I stayed here after taking my Colgate student back from winter break. On a very snowy night it took about 30 minutes to get there from Colgate. It was very cozy to be in the cute downtown area with shops and restaurants, and extremely convenient to have dining options in the hotel itself, both a casual tavern bar downstairs with very friendly staff, and a more formal dining room on the first floor.
Generally the Lincklaen House has an elegant historic vibe, with a little lived in, worn charm, which I actually thought made it feel more comfortable and less snooty. My room was comfortable, but not fancy, which was appropriate for the affordability. The bed was very comfortable.
My only complaint is that I could hear a lot of noise from the other rooms both on the floor above and on either side, creaking floorboards from people above and conversation in the other rooms. Somewhat to be expected, it's an old place. There was also a fair amount of traffic noise from outside and light coming in from streetlights. A blackout curtain and some sound dampening measures would be a great investment, but all that said, the price and the convenience is right for a place with a great deal of charm. I'd stay here again.
The staff here are friendly and extremely accommodating, the food is incredible, the rooms are clean, and it’s a beautiful place to stay. 10/10, would give 100 stars if I could.
We only stayed one night, but the hotel is marvellous. Room waa cozy and had comfortable beds. The atmosphere in the hotel is outstanding amd authentic. We loved it!
We loved the ambiance of the Lincklaen House. Initially, as we walked in, we were greeted with a roaring fire, Christmas lights, and the sound of people enjoying the restaurant. Our room was comfortable and clean, maintaining its historical background.
It is a historical hotel, so you have to put up with lack of amenities. This includes no elevator, few plugs for modern gadgets, no Wifi, no refrigerator or microwave. Parking sucks-far away and you better get in early. After I lucked out the first night and someone pulled out of a full parking lot, the next night I parked and walked to my other destinations. The bathroom door in the room I had stuck and was hard to open. If you like stepping back in time, it's OK, but if you want any modern conveiniences skip it.
It's an old building that in some ways shows the wear, but I just love it, so I stay here when I need to be in Syracuse early. The place has charm and personality. The heat and air conditioning aren't automatic, but they work. Some of the furniture is scuffed up a little, so if that kind of thing bothers you, don't choose this. But if you'd rather be in a nice little town than a strip mall, rather have your breakfast on china than styrofoam, rather run your hand along a beautiful curved railing than get in an elevator, then this is a good choice.

Expected a little more
This historic building is charming to stay in. Everyone was very nice and we had no major issues with our stay. A few things we didn’t love: the bed was SO firm, barely gave in when sitting down on it. Hardest mattress I’ve ever experienced. The bathroom was small, but given the history of the building, it was expected. However, the blinds in the bathroom looked like they were installed when the building was revitalized back in 1997. The continental breakfast was tasty, though had no protein options. A second waffle iron would’ve been helpful as well. Overall an average stay, a great location in the heart of Cazenovia.
This is a lovely historic hotel. We loved the atmosphere. The best thing about this hotel was the restaurant. I had one of the best dinners of my life here, and I’m in my late sixties. The only complaint would be the road noise from outside. It did quiet down after 10:00 pm. I should have read the reviews and opted for a room closer to the back of the hotel. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was the normal continental, but more than adequate. I would stay here again if I am ever up this way again.
