A little away from the usual tourist areas, St Maria di Licodia is an ideal location for exploring Etna and travelling into Catania or Taormina though you will need a car. We happened to get there late at night so driving through the neighborhood was a little bit iffy for us, but the next morning we walked to breakfast and all was well."
