"We had a wonderful stay at Settlers lodge. Beautifully decorated and very well equipped! Loved seeing the squirrels around the garden! Set in a great area for walking and exploring. We enjoyed both the local pub and also a takeaway from the nearby pub. Both we would recommend. Cannot wait to come for a return visit . Thanks again!"

"This private and bijou rental is an absolute gem! In lovely rural setting, it is very cosy and enormous care has clearly been taken to think through every need a guest might have. Wherever you look there are thoughtful beautiful artistic touches. The host is friendly, informative and very responsive to any questions. The cottage is well situated to visit Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island (Lindisfarne). Within easy reach are shops and restaurants. The 'Taj Tandoori' provided the best Indian meal...

"Lovely property, very clean and tidy. In a beautiful location - having good weather helped too, with access to local shops. The cottage is very well presented and very comfortable. Tea, coffee and milk was very well received after a long journey. Nick was very helpful with his correspondence. Thank you for a lovely stay, hope to come again. "

"Me and my 5 friends had a lovely time away. There were stunning views and the house was large and comfortable. Fun board games and a lovely hot tub. We all agreed that the main thing that let it down for us was cleanliness. We had to hoover and clean when we got there - there was a lot of dog hair (we didn't bring a dog). One of the bathrooms was particularly dirty - black mold and black grime in the shower, plug full of hair so wouldn't drain properly. The grass in the garden hadn't been...

"The cottage was lovely, not 'luxury' though, paint pealing in the bathrooms. The bed was so low to the ground that I had to sleep on the sofa as I couldn't get up off it with my arthritic knees. My partner who is 6'7" also really struggled with the low furniture. we would love to come back to the area but definitely not to this property."

"Cooked breakfast was good but the cereal choice was unimaginative. Water pressure in basin poor. Shower good and it cleaned the bathroom. Decorative state was poor. Toilet seat fixing was broken and not resolved to our satisfaction. Insufficient hangers for two people. Current AARating was incorrect. No way a 4 star so overpriced. "

"All worked perfectly with the handover. The instructions are very good for finding the house as GPS can be unreliable up there. It is way off the beaten track and very isolated. The road is bumpy but you do not need an SUV. The accommodation is very nice and we wanted for nothing as we brought up everything. The owner left some treats for us. "Lovely spacious well-heated house in beautiful countryside. We had a week of snowy weather which was heavenly. Edward, the owner was extremely helpful. He towed out some cars which got stuck in the car park by the house, provided lots of logs, replaced the washing machine which had problems and was generally a great help. This is a house for people who like old books and furnishings...don't go there if you want modern posh."
