"We recently spent a week at The Rock House while visiting Costa Rica and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was beautiful and the photos on VRBO accurately reflect it. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. AC units are available in both bedrooms. The kitchen was well-equipped. We really enjoyed the salt-water pool and the outdoor hook and ring game and made good use of both! Wilfredo, the caretaker, lives in a small home on the property and took great care of the pool and grounds and helped us out when we were dealing with some ants in the house.A few things to be aware of in the area: - The road up to the house is STEEP and a 4x4 is highly recommended. It's also great exercise to walk up and down which we did every day!- The town and beach right at the bottom of the hill was not our favourite. It was relatively dusty, probably since that section of road is unpaved, and occasionally smelled of garbage. However, if you travel either north or south at all things were quite nice. There are many nice restaurants to choose from close by. Our favourite beach was Playa Hermosa (about a 15 min drive north).We loved our time in Costa Rica and would happily suggest The Rock House to anyone travelling to the area! "Beautiful place to stay! Very clean, beautiful wood interiors, inviting pool, incedible view of the ocean right from your private balcony. I could go on and on. Host was friendly and responsive, helpful and courteous. Animals in trees right nearby. Property has pretty limited parking, and I’ll admit it was a bit of a challenge parallel parking at that elevation. 10/10 would stay here again. Love the quiet policy. So peaceful & rejuvenating."

"We could not be any happier, this was the best location, close to the beach, great pool area to relax in a shady spot for peace and quiet. The rooms and room service are 5***** clean and fresh, smells amazing. The staff is incredibly helpful and so friendly. We felt like we were family. Look out for the two resident iguanas. "

"It was a beautiful property! Like a treehouse tucked away in the jungle, but right on the main strip 5 mins across the street from playa Carmen. Close to great cafes, restaurants, and convenience stores. Our check in process went smoothly and the private family room was perfect, except that we noticed quite quickly the AC wasn’t working on the 2nd level in the bedrooms. The staff were so kind and quick to work hard and fix it by the time we went got back for dinner. 10/10 customer service. Would absolutely stay here again!"

"Beautifully appointed rooms with private plunge pool and view of ocean. Staff very courteous. Breakfasts included in rate were excellent. We ate dinner at the hotel most nights for convenience and because the food and service was good. The main drawback of this hotel is that it is too far away from Santa Teresa and the main beaches to walk so you need to book taxis ( $20 each way), rent an ATV or rent a car. "
