"A great place to reconnect with nature and friends, play some cards on the terrace and cool off in the pool. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds were comfy. The house looks like the photos. Atenas was hot while we were here so the pool helped tremendously - would not recommend staying at a house without a pool in the dry season there! "We have stayed at Steve’s and Nancy’s for two weeks and experienced their hospitality, friendliness and such a warmth. Loved the place : super comfortable, very private yet close enough to know the host is there when you need them. Steve and his helper rescued us from a very daring car trouble for which we were so grateful. We enjoyed the tranquility and spectacular views, jacuzzi on the huge terrace was awesome. "We had a wonderful week in Costa Rica and this was the perfect home base. Conveniently located to the San Jose airport and day trips to Jaco for fun in the sun. We loved coming back to the house in the evening for pool side happy hour and grilling for dinner. Wonderful views of the Central Valley and cool night air provided a perfect setting to cast your cares away. Piet and Yvonne were wonderful hosts and I highly recommend this property."

"This villa offers everything you could desire. Beauty, comfort, atmosphere, luxury, art, birds and lovely garden. Pool and hot tub ensure relaxation and exercise. Elias as the caretaker and contact was perfect. Plan on a few days at the Villa without traveling everyday. Would recommend seeing Poás volcano and a trip to the beach at Jaco. Both very easy in a day trip. Many very good places to eat in the town of Atenas. "

"This was our first visit to beautiful Costa Rica. We stayed only a few days in San Jose before we ended our trip on the Pacific side.There were 7 of us traveling together for a family reunion and this hacienda was perfect for us! Plenty of room and easy to get around. The home had everything we could need; full kitchen, washer and dryer, toiletries too. And a huge, well taken care of, yard and garden. The bonus was the neighborhood that has loads of shops, restaurants, food stands and groceries,...

"Super host! Very communicative from start to finish. The accommodations were superb. The kids loved the pool area. We were all entertained with the outdoor living space. Everything easy and accessible in the kitchen, to allow for a lot of “at home” meal preparation. The bedrooms very comfortable, and wheelchair accessible (for my father). A gorgeous backyard garden with a strolling path for everyone, including my father. We will all be back!!"

"Our stay was paid and confirmed 60 days prior to our arrival. We arrived 30 mins early only to be told we could not stay as a previous tenant had a pet that caused damage. No advance notice. Took 9 days to get a refund. Avoid this rental."

"Very clean loft, awesome views from the balcony/hot tub, very responsive host. Has everything you need with a convenient store and local restaurant just a couple minutes walk down the street, Poas Volcano/park nearby and the town of Poas 10 minute drive away (huge restaurant selection, gas stations, supermarket etc.). Can get windy as it's up on a hill so bring ear plugs or white noise app if you're a light sleeper "

Wyndham San Jose Herradura Hotel & Convention Center

"I loved staying at this hotel. The grounds and plantings are gorgeous, the pools feel totally luxurious and all the public spaces feel spacious, clean and elegant. They offer free airport transfers and one can pick up and drop off a rental car right at the hotel, how convenient is that.!!! My room was just fine. I had requested a refrigerator and got one. Beds were comfortable and room was spacious, and I thought great for the price. My granddaughters loved the pools. I plan on staying here again when i have to leave Costa Rica by air. The only complaint is the restaurant ran out of red wine, and 2 of the dishes i wanted to order. The cleaning staff for my room were exceptionally gracious, friendly and kind. I also had a dental problem while i was there and was able to walk to the “Dental Smile Center”, which did a great job helping me. It is also walking distance to a fresh market grocery store, and it was easy to get to downtown San Jose via uber. Yes the hotel is older, but that’s why the plantings are so nice. They even have a garden with a mango tree. The gym is one of the best equipped i have run into in a hotel. So 5 stars"
