Pros and cons
Pros - The villa itself was lovely. It looks just like the pictures and the garden and pool are beautiful. The rooms were all spacious with comfy beds and good quality fans and air con. A member of staff is on site for 24 hours a day.
Cons - No wifi, despite it being specified in the features. Two of the showers were faulty, so just sprayed water everywhere, and one sink didn't work at all. It is three bathrooms and then one toilet off the kitchen, not four en-suites as advertised. The location is slightly out of the way. It's fine if you have hired a car or motorbikes (the staff will help you with sourcing motorbikes) but taxis are a nightmare. Canggu has an issue with taxis - there are lots of angry signs against Grab/Uber and every taxi we took was insanely overpriced because there seems to be some sort of local monopoly forcing up prices. You can walk down to an area with nice shops/restaurants but it takes about 20-30 minutes, and to get to the main area of Canggu is about a 10 minute motorbike ride away. It's not really a beachy area either.
We also had issues with the booking. One of our party called the number on the day of our arrival to confirm and was told that we had no booking, and would have to pay cash on arrival even though we had paid in advance. As it was, when we arrived we showed the Hotels.com email and it was fine, but my friend had endured over an hour of phone calls with them and Hotels.com ahead of this.
