The Selina has a great bar area with events almost every night. If you're looking to meet some new people or have some drinks and listen to music. There's also a nice pool area with lots of tables and spots to relax. Pedro and Eric at the bar are cool guys and very friendly.
On the downside the music and partying can also be loud up until 11 PM at night, so consider when you normally like to go to sleep. There's also a neighbor's dog that barks constantly sometimes during the day and at night, which I found more annoying than the music. You can also hear the ADO bus terminal automatic announcements, which repeat frequently. These aren't too loud but they get very repetitive.
Overall the location of the Selina is also very good, close to bus stops, the Ado bus station, the Palapa park and shops and restaurants.
Fr what I paid for a private room, I didn't think the service experience (outside of the bar) was acceptable. When dropped off my bags early before the day of check-in, I asked at the reception if there was a bathroom I could use but was told no. This is despite there being a large common bathroom.
I asked later for a second blanket at reception, and this seemed to be a big request. I asked them to look into it, but never ended up getting the blanket.
Houskeeping also opened my door despite having the 'do not disturb' sign off. They also thought I was checking out a day early, so I had to go down to the front desk to confirm this wasn't the case. Frustrating.
