Do you want to get to know the Carriebbean side of Costa Rica? The people, the musik, culter, flora and fauna? Then my Casa Magdalena is the right place for you!!
The wooden structure of Casa Magdalena is nestled into a natural setting of tropical flowers and fruit trees, like mango, grapefruit, banana, lime and avocado – tasty and attract local bird and insect life in abundance. The two storey home has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a light and spacious open plan kitchen/dining/living area. The main bedroom has ensuite bathroom and private veranda, overlooking the colourful and leafy garden. The veranda and balcony are invitingly furnished with sofas and hammocks, just perfect to chill out! Casa Magdalena is fully equipped and well-maintained to ensure a comfortable stay. We pride ourselves on the coziness and cleanliness of this home.
Everybody is talking about sustainable sources. I believe there is lots we can do just by saving energy and I tried to realize as much as possible by:
?NOT having A/C but natural ventilation with wide windows all around. They also reduce the need for artificial light during daylight hours. Fans are provided for warmer days.
?low wattage light bulbs
?the water heater only starts when needed. In this climate we have many months where a hot shower is not even wanted!
WATER:
?having our own well
?toilet system dual flush-use the amount of water needed
There are recycling bins in the house and a compost heap outside for household waste and we use environmentally friendly toilet cleaner, dish washing soap, washing soap and other products.
Casa Magdalena is stituated in a quiet local neighbourhood, so you can get away from it all and be part of a community - not just one of many tourists or ex-pats. Observe everyday life in this friendly area, inhabited by Costa Ricans who live simply and happily here.
When reserving your vacation accommodation in Cahuita, consider the advantages of a White Beach location. The National Park has a flag system to clearly indicate safe swimming spots along the beach, ensuring that you can always find a place to enjoy the Caribbean waters without the risk of rip-tides. As a mother myself, I would strongly advise families against diving into the waters at the Black Beach, unless the waves are very calm. Holiday-makers in Cahuita are thrilled by the National Park's diverse flora and fauna - you can expect to see (and hear) both White-faced and Howler monkeys, but sloths, racoons, anteaters, snakes, iguanas, tree-frogs, leaf-cutter ants and an incredible selection of creatures that scuttle, fly, buzz, swim and crawl are all around you! At this end of town, you have the advantage of shops, bars, restaurants, the bank, pharmacy, ATM, Post Office and Bus Terminal all within a few minutes walk, as well as the safety, beauty and tropical wildlife of the National Park. Who could ask for more?
