"This is a lovely old hotel and the decor reflects that - full of charm and character. However, the age of the hotel means that the ensuites are a later addition and so are very small and basic. The room was clean and comfortable but the hall could have done with some vacuuming and the sliding door to the ensuite had come off its runners."

"The hotel had a lovely homely feel to it. The furnishings were generally of days gone by but that all added to the charm of the property. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The area around was full of interesting features, even on a Sunday evening. The Durie Hill Elevator has to be visited."

"On arrivel the staff were very helpful i needed to use a cpap machine and was upgraded to a suite which was exellent.I had a car but you could walk through the park by the main entrance across the river bridge to a very nice place for drinks and dinner. Food vas very good. All shops are close. Although the main road was close with the patio doors shut i heard no road noise at all. The hotel alos has a function room. I'm from the uk and have been traveling around the north Island for six weeks,staying in different places every couple days. Would highly recomend. I am a 67 year old male solo travaler."
