"This was the worst hostel experience I’ve ever had. The rooms were dirty and the atmosphere was very unsafe. There were drug addicts in my room who told me they were living there permanently. They did all sorts of drugs. Nothing matched the positive reviews, and I felt completely misled. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!"

"From the moment you enter, the gorgeous scent of what's to come envelopes you. An absolutely gorgeous check-in area. It felt like walking into a museum. Beautifully curated and most importantly, the warm embrace of the people working within the establishment. Giulia, Leedia, and the other fine gentlemen, as well as the owner were present. "We were nervous arriving at this hotel as some reviews were horrific! We were delighted to find that the room and en-suite bathroom were absolutely spotless. Yes, the stairs are a bit grubby and *very* steep but so were every other stairs we came across in Amsterdam. Yes, the beds are probably narrower and closer together than some other hotels, but they were absolutely clean and combined with the fantastic location we were delighted at this find. "It is shared accommodations, and you should pack your own set of bed sheets, blanket cover, and pillow case. Probably better suited to a longer stay. A nice place to meet other travelers. Breakfast was nice. The proprietor is agreeable and welcoming."

"I did not like the fact that the page states there is parking available, but the reality is that there isn't. I was counting on that. Also, there is not much to do in the area. The only good thing is that from there, it is easy to move with public transport and reach places that have more going on. The hostel was clean and the people there were nice and friendly. "

"Considering the prices of hotels/hostels in Utrecht and its location, its a pretty good deal. The rooms are barebone but clean and spacious enough (as far as the private ones go). I would stay there again, but keep in mind its no frills!"

"STAY AWAY!!! The place is a dump. There was actual poo on the floor in the restroom off the lobby. When we told them we couldn't stay because if was such a dump, they refused to refund ANY of our money even though we never stayed there. "

"This is the place to stay if you have a family. Kids will love this place and the best part a huge mall and access to tram. You are basically in the middle of it all. We have stayed here for a week but will be a frequent visitor. The people are friendly and very keen to serving you. There is no other place that delivers on comfort, access, and ease of stay! Also great eatery near by including some Michelin reviewed! "

"Wonderful apartment we stayed in with everything we needed. The free shuttle service to Schiphol and back was a big help. Extremely clean and smelled very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again if we come back to Amsterdam. "

Micro Hotel Happiness

"citizenM Amsterdam South is a unique chain of hotels with a micro footprint focus. Each room has an "open" show and toilet area in the main bedroom, partitioned by a glass tube and or curtain, which takes some getting used to. The staff is stellar, I enjoyed when they called us guest "citizens". The lobby feels akin to a hostel, in that its very communal, even with the likes of business workers. Its affordable and in a good location. Watch out for all the bikes!"

"I loved the technology from the ipad room control, the automatic sign in and key making, superb lift system, and all the fittings were great. My only criticism is the free coffee system on each floor ( not in the room) was a bit difficult to get right and two mornings there was no milk cartons on my floor. "

"This property was a perfect budget hotel for an overnight stay to catch a next day flight. The free shuttle bus was great at the airport, took about 10 mins to get to the hotel after midnight. The clerk at the check in desk was friendly, smiling and had our room keys all ready. The room was great, small, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Looking out the window in the morning we looked into a forest and saw 3 huge bunnies. The buffet breakfast was great and we sat in the sun filled dining area awaiting our shuttle to the airport. I highly recommend this hotel for an overnight stay. "
