"It’s actually 4.5/5. Lovely room, comfy bed, lots of hot water and a fantastic view. Very friendly to both humans and our dogs. Room very clean, downstairs floor less so, but so much mud being brought in….. The only negative is the cooked breakfast, eggs lovely, bacon and sausage less so. Most delicious chocolate croissants I’ve ever had though!"

"This is a family run hotel in a Victorian building. Our room was really large with a high ceiling with a sea view on the ground floor. Staff were very helpful and bent over backwards to resolve a couple of small issues with the room. The hotel has a spa and also provides evening entertainment even in low season when we visited. The location of the Hotel is great for Shaftesbury town, a 12 minute walk takes you to the centre. We really liked it. We didn’t use the pool but it looks nice, although it seemed to be constantly used by locals mainly. Overall very happy "

"Had 3 lovely days at Brooksyde. A very comfortable house, a home form home seaside retreat. A great base to visit Lyme Regis, Sidmouth etc. Beer is a really lovely little village with a few independent shops and restaurants. The voucher for the next door shop was a nice surprise.
