"Possibly the smallest room Ive ever stayed in. Bed was comfortable. Furniture was old and in poor shape, stained lampshade on the tiny desk. Glass door to bathroom so all light flooded thru there. Curtains did not meet in the middle in the bedroom. Bathroom was designed as a wet room, no shower curtain, awkward tiny 1cm "step" between toilet and shower. Kept falling over it. Windows and glass shelf in bathroom were very dirty. Tiled floor in bathroom very slippery when wet no mat provided....

The regular rooms are evocative and very comfortable, with choice of fan and air conditioning. The lack of a television is more than compensated for by the eclectic collection of books in rooms, and communal areas. "This is a lovely historic house presented with style and charm, and high standards. The staff provide the best service and are very attentive. Setting is just gorgeous with visiting shy groups of purple-faced leaf monkeys and peacocks passing through along the high walls and trees from time as you sit in the cool palm filled courtyards. And added, an excellent menu with both traditional and modern mix so well presented and tasty served in a lovely restaurant-bar setting on the deep verandahs. "

"We had a wonderful stay at Villa Golden, stayed the whole of in February 2025, hence returning next year (2026). Susantha (House Manager) is a credit to the business, welcoming, professional, very helpful and great with the arrangement of tours and travelling. The staff team were very friendly making us always feel at home. Their attention to detail was very good, attentive but not intrusive. The breakfast and all meals cooked for us were very good and we very much enjoyed the cookery session....
