By Manchester, VT-Circa 1840 Hand Hewn Barn on private pond close to skiing.

Located 6 miles from Manchester Center. Minutes from Bromley and Magic Mountain Ski Centers and within 25 minutes from Stratton and Okemo. Killington and Mount Snow are within a one hour drive. Lodge sits on 13 bucolic acres surrounded by National Forest overlooking trout pond. This property is also in the middle of a bird sanctuary. Natural scented flower gardens around front porch. Cathedral ceilings in living room / dining room, with massive cobblestone fireplace. Glassed screened porch. Free-form decks. Fully equipped kitchen. 2 full baths upstairs bath has jacuzzi jets. Barn Sleeps 6 adults and 2 to 4 children. The 3 bedrooms each have a queen bed. There is a loft area upstairs that has 2 twin trundle beds that can sleep 4 when opened. Appalachian and Long trail hiking to the top of scenic Bromley mountain accessible right from property. Well behaved pets are welcome but as per house rules we ask they pets are kept off furniture and beds and we do require a $100 pet fee per pet due to multiple issues with dog hair on beds and furniture. When you book you can check the box to add pets and pet fee. No cats are allowed.

Note: Although very rare due to unforeseen circumstances the pond may be partially drained for dam repair. Also, we take guests privacy very serious and we do not have any inside surveillance or televisions with front facing cameras. Swimming in the pond is not recommended because it is a wildlife pond and has Leaches and Beaver from time to time. Fishing is permitted but you may want to purchase a Vermont state fishing license.

We arrived late at night the accommodations were outstanding. We could not have asked for a more perfect place. When we woke the next day to amazing lush greenest. We enjoyed the entire stay. We actually extended the stay one day to enjoy the place more.

Wonderful Stay
We were 3 couples over 60. The house was plenty large to accommodate all of us with ease and comfort. We enjoyed lots of laughter in the dining and sun rooms. The large kitchen was easy to work in. Overall, the house is great and convenient to Manchester. Two things to note: the pond is barely visible from the house due to the summer foliage. Route 11 created more road noise than I expected.

Beautiful and rustic
We loved our stay in this beautiful old cabin/barn, the space was perfect for our family of 5 plus our dog. Location is great, close to town but remote and private. It lacked nothing, especially not charm.

Great location with a couple issues
Property is a great location to explore Vermont. We spent 4 nights and visited several locations throughout the State. Hiked to Bromley summit right from front door and the Lye Brook Falls hike was great. Description indicates a cleaning co. Maintains the property but on arrival we found a partially decomposing mouse in the upper level shower and during the stay had large black ants in dinning, kitchen and lower level Bathroom. I cleaned up the mouse and dealt with ants as we saw them. Overall did not let those things deter our trip.

Stay at Beaver Dam Lodge
We loved our stay at the lodge. We had two couples and kids ranging in age from 2 to 12. We did lots of skiing at Bromley but loved having Manchester so close to explore. The pinball arcade was a great rainy day activity for kids! The house was amazing and bigger than we imagined, we were all extremely comfortable. The only thing to mention is the stairs and upstairs loft are a bit scary for little ones. We blocked them with a baby gate and didn’t let the two year old up there, but it was fine for the big kids. We can’t wait to plan another stay next year!

Beautiful way to spend Christmas
We spent the very first Christmas away from home and into a home that made the holiday a wonderful memory for us. We have stayed at this property in the summer and both seasons did not disappoint. The property is in a secluded area, quiet and very close to skiing. I would book and stay here forever if I could. MM

Beaver Damn Stay
It was wonderful to return to this cozy welcoming property. I stayed in the other house maybe 6 or 7 years in a row quite some time ago. You can tell it’s such a family place. Everything was easy, comfortable and the spot is just amazing. We couldn’t have been happier.

Cozy lodge with beautiful view
This is a cozy lodge filled with interesting antiques and a drop dead gorgeous location on a private pond. Minutes from the entrance to Bromley Mountain for skiing or summer fun. Well appointed rooms sleep 6 adults and 2 children easily. Woke up to coffee on the deck watching birds. Loved it!

An absolute Gem!
Staying at this house was an honor, you can just feel the history inside! If you appreciate authenticity and antiques, this is the stay for you. Heat and hot water were fabulous. Ester was so kind, she even mailed back my friends forgotten laundry (and added in a shirt and hat!!) A piece of my heart is left with this house... We WILL be back!

Great getaway in VT
This was such a charming experience in a rustic cabin that offered everything you would need for your stay. Communication and directions were outstanding and made this location easy to find. When we first arrived we thought this would be too close to the main road but honestly once you get inside the peacefulness of this cabin took over and there was a tremendous sigh of relief as the work stress melted away. Great experience and we all agreed we would come back here again!

Cabin in the woods
A terrific get-away to Vermont cabin in the woods, we drove up from Virginia. We spent the week between Christmas and New Years, very close to Bromley Ski mountain, easy drive to Stratton and others. We cooked meals in every night, everything was there that we needed. Played family games after dinner, they have a stocked cabinet full of options. No complaints at all.

Comfortable Lodge in the Woods
When I walked in the door, I told my wife, “This house smells like VT!” I meant that the most positive way. The massive fireplace is well loved and the house smells like a ski lodge is supposed to smell. Anyone that appreciates post and beam construction with old barn wood as well as antiques is going to love this property. The decor is beautifully done and it is fun trying to figure out the original purpose for some of obscure pieces that have been repurposed in very creative ways. The gardens around the house are stunning and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch reading and watching the birds and chipmunks. We stayed in the house for two weeks in July. It was 90 degrees in the valley during the day but at night the mountain temperature dropped so that it was cool enough that the fans were more than sufficient to keep us comfortable. For a few days we had 5 girls in the house and we never had a problem with water pressure or hot water. The house is really as beautiful as it appears in the pictures. If you like the house from the pictures, you are going to love the house when you get there. We are definitely considering this house for a future visit to VT.

Unique experience
A true cabin. We decided we had been in the Berenstain Bears’ tree house. Rustic. Thank goodness for fans as it was hot & hard to enjoy the beautiful sun room which must be gorgeous in the winter. Pretty setting ruined by the noisy road close by. Comfortable beds & linens.
