"The Retreat gave a bona fide feel of luxury and quality service, not to mention the lagoon, aurora, spa and especially the ever existing peril of another volcanic eruption, combined to form a once-in-a-lifetime experience! "Literally situated in the middle of a dried lava field the hotel is very close to the Blue Lagoon and not too far from the airport. It’s not in a town and stands in its own. The owners have made it very cozy and like home. Restaurant is very good and staff are very helpful. "

"It was convenient as it was near the airport but we thought it was closer than it was. Good price with breakfast incuded. Breakfast was really nice and a good selection of food. Room was comfortable and spacious."

"We had a flight arriving in Keflavik at 445am and wanted a place to lay our heads. I found this place and booked last minute. The price was very reasonable for a 4-person room, I reached out to the hotel very early morning about having a late check out, and they responded very fast, accommodating our request. Poor communication on how to take advantage of the paid breakfast also appeared to have a hot tub but not filled or open… tried to get our room made after the first night but not certain how to make that happen. "Hotel is conveniently close to the airport. It was nice and clean - only thing it didn’t have was soap in the room. Breakfast was good and early (starting at 4am) for travelers with early flights. Hótel also has a shuttle to the airport. "

"We stayed just two days after they were able to reopen after the recent eruption and were picked up in Grindavik and driven to hotel. Staff was welcoming and supportive even in the setting of this recent eruption disruption. Food was good and environment was wonderful. Comfortable rooms and good set up. Good menu and bar. Location more amazing in setting of recent eruption. "
