Beach Front Cottage, warmest waters north of the Carolinas

Booking is now open for the 2025 season. Our preference is to book week-long stays from Sunday afternoon to the following Sunday morning (7 nights total)..We stiill have the first week of June available, as well as most of the second and fourth weeks, We also still have a partial week in mid July (5 nights starting the 7th to the morning of July 14). Most of September and all of October is still available.

Roomy and comfortable, perfect for a family vacation! Golden sand beach out front*. Fabulous views of the Northumberland Strait, including Pictou Island, the PEI ferry crossing, and sometimes even PEI itself. Three bedrooms that sleep six. One full & one half bathroom. Large eat-in kitchen. Separate living/dining room with vaulted ceiling. Enclosed front porch and new front deck for morning coffee. Big back deck for BBQ. 10 minute drive to Melmerby Beach (best public beach in Nova Scotia), 15 minute drive to New Glasgow, 30 minute drive to the PEI ferry at Caribou, and 2 hour drive to downtown Halifax. Choice of 3 local golf courses. Cross-fit gym, yoga studio, and Wellness Center.in New Glasgow. Great local roads for cycling and trails for hiking/biking. Attractions include the Museum of Industry in New Glasgow, and the deCoste Performing Arts Center in Pictou. Day trips include the town of Antigonish - continue east to access Cape Breton, the Cabot Trail, and Fortress Louisburg, or drive north around beautiful Cape George (the "little Cabot Trail") which can be seen to the east from the front deck of the Cottage.

This is such a charming cottage with an eclectic mixture of furniture. The view is amazing, and the hosts are super friendly and welcoming. I would certainly stay here again.

We enjoyed our trip 100%. The cottage supplied everything that you could need. We really enjoyed the screened sun porch. The views were spectacular ; the weather was fantastic. We will definitely return. Our host Bill was extremely helpful and even called to see how we were settling in.

Beachfront Cottage
Had another excellent stay at our favorite Blackpoint Cottage . Coming here is like coming home. The cottage is clean and spacious and welcoming. It is fully equipped and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Cathy and BJ the property managers are terrific and are there at a moments notice if you have any questions ... and dealing with the owner is seamless! A wonderful vacation, a lovely cottage and a perfect location . Thank you and hope to return next summer 🙏

Another Great Stay
Our fourth year here and it does not disappoint! Beach is beautiful and and easy access to day trips to PEI or Cape Breton is the weather is not cooperating. Jacqueline had the place spotless for our arrival and JB the caretaker and his life partner Kate are true gems! Highly recommend this location!

The location on a bluff overlooking the water was superb. The cottage was clean and well-equipped. The caretakers were friendly and helpful in any situation. The owner checked in on us many times during our time there. The stars on a clear night were amazing. I plan to stay there again in the future.

It was extremely clean and well-kept. The view was absolutely beautiful morning and night. We enjoyed it so much we often to stay for a second week. Despite how warm the weather was, there was a beautiful breeze most days. Beach was completely quiet every day and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

So relaxing
Stunning views both sunrise and sunset and everywhere in between. The cottage was completely functional, had great breeze off the water and cozy. We had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. Initially we booked for one week and jumped at the chance for the second week! 14 days was not enough time to relax and unwind and take in the breeze off the water! Wonderful spot!

Great location on Northumberland Strait
Very comfortable 3 bedroom cottage situated on the Northumberland Strait. Ideal spot for a quite holiday in rural Nova. Scotia but within a easy drive to Truro or Halifax. Cottage has all the necessary amenities for an enjoyable holiday and the owner and property manager we’re quick to respond to any problems that arose. Would definitely book again.

Second time was as good as the first!
This was a return visit and like the first time, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at " Beach Front Cottage". We have family in the area so the location was perfect for visiting and catching up. From the front window you can watch the fishermen bring in their catch early in the morning, enjoy visits from the local deer population, or just watch the water coming into shore, the view is spectacular. The cottage is well supplied with everything you will need. Arrive, unpack, sit back and enjoy!

Million Dollar View
View was awesome and weather perfect. Cottage was well appointed and offered quiet surroundings. Day of arrival was very warm and the breeze from the windows as the temperature dropped with increased winds. The rest of our stay was filled with sunshine, walks on the beach and exploring other areas including New Glasgow, Pictou and other spots. The beaches in the area were very easy to find and lots of nice walking areas too! Great place to take a deep breath and relax. It was nice that there were caretakes in the near vicinity and the owner communicated with us too. The new pavement on the Little Harbour Road between the cottage area and New Glasgow makes driving time very short as well. Thanks for a pleasant and wonderful cottage stay.

A little piece of heaven on the Northumberland Strait
I had to isolate for 14 days upon my return to Canada and I could not have chosen a more perfect place to do it! This cottage has everything I needed and the view over the Northumberland Strait is stunning . I would get up early to enjoy the sunrise. The area is so peaceful and quiet. It was just me this time but the house is very spacious with three bedrooms so great for a family The kitchen is very well equipped. WiFi works very well. A cozy sun porch overlooking the water . And a sunny deck on the back of the house. Bill, the owner, was quick to answer all my questions prior to check in and checked in with me during my stay. A perfect host!! I plan to return with my family next year so I can explore the area. I can't recommend this wonderful cottage enough. Thank you Bill. I'll be back!!

Home Away From Home....I Wish..
We have always dreamed of waking up, and falling asleep for that matter, to the sounds of ocean waves crashing on the shore. We were not disappointed during our stay in this comfy nostalgic cottage. Everything described on VRBO for listing is genuine. Our host, Bill, was extremely attentive to our stay, even reimbursing us for a overpayment we didn't know we made. Our neighbors BJ and his wife were welcoming and helpful to every question we had. We live in the Boston area and decided to take the long way "Road Trip" version. It's not for the faint of heart to travel 11 hours. Staying at a hotel at a halfway point is recommended. Cannot say enough about the beauty and cleanliness of Nova Scotia. Every local we had conversations with were extremely friendly and informative. The cottage is lovely and charming in a "coming home to grandma" way. The kitchen has all the amenities you would expect and there were plenty of extra beddings and towels, etc; available for our use. The WiFi was strong and the Cable TV gave us no issues when we found the need to watch it. I would recommend a few good books and a couple of bottles of wine. Otherwise, just walking out the back door a few yards to enjoy the amazing Atlantic coast was all we needed. Thank you Bill!

Another Perfect Vacation!
This was our third year in a row and we stayed for the first 2 weeks of August. As before, it was another perfect vacation and we wouldn't have asked for anything to be different. The cottage has absolutely everything we needed and then some. The weather cooperated once again and was great the whole time we were there. We spent the days walking on the beach and collecting interesting rocks, beach glass and driftwood. Our dog, Luna, loves the place just as much as us I think…she spent a great deal of time swimming in the water in front of the cottage whenever she could. We also spent some time at Melmerby beach (fantastic beach) with the nice weather. I loved sitting in the screen room and reading in the late afternoon. We especially loved sitting out front in the evening and taking in the sounds of the shoreline of the Northumberland Strait…so soothing for the soul. Everything else was great. WIFI worked very well. Bill, the owner, checked in on us several times to make sure everything was going well. Cathie and BJ, property managers, are especially very nice people and are very attentive to make sure everything was going okay. I could go on and on about this wonderful place that we now consider our second home. We will be definitely be back next year and are already looking forward to it and making our plans! Thanks for everything!

Fantastic Vacation
What can I say…we consider this to be our new home away from home only better because it is right on the beautiful Northumberland Strait and everything else about the location. This is the second year in a row that we’ve stayed at this cottage and it certainly won’t be the last. We had an absolutely fantastic vacation, and once again, we were not disappointed with anything at all. Terrific weather the whole time and we spent a lot of time on the beach in front of the cottage walking, collecting interesting rocks and just generally enjoying the calming waters of the Northumberland Strait. The water this time of year is so calm and nice and warm so I spent a few afternoons at nearby Melmerby beach too. Even though it was a very warm period, the breezes in the evening cooled things off quite nicely for sleeping. Everything was as advertised. The WIFI was incredibly good with no interruptions whatsoever. The beds were fantastic and the main bed has the perfect mattress for my wife as she has a very bad back which made things so much enjoyable for her. Lots of towels, dishes and absolutely everything you need is right there which makes things so much easier when you go on vacation. The owner kept us informed of anything he thought we should know and even called to check in with us when we got there just to make sure everything was okay. The property managers were great, very approachable and checked in several times also to make sure there was nothing that we needed. They even offered interesting tidbits about the local area that would make our stay more enjoyable. One of my favorite spots was the screened room with a view of the water…absolutely priceless! We just chilled, looking out over the water, watching the Gannets diving for fish…very cool! My wife even caught a glimpse of a whale while scanning the water through the binoculars! We generally ate at the bay window overlooking the Strait...so relaxing. Overall we found that this was the perfect location to decompress and get away from it all. The property is nice and spacious with lots of room to throw the ball around for the dog. But her favorite thing was taking 3 swims a day though while I threw the ball in the water for her…she may have had the best time of all I do believe. Overall, we have no complaints and only good things to say. We just want to say thank you for an absolutely great nine days! This made our entire year!

Oceanfront cottage on a budget!
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage! It was a good home base for exploring and visiting family nearby. The kitchen was well equipped and beds were comfortable. It was lovely to be able to look out the many windows and see the ocean or catch sight of several deer in the mornings. The host was helpful with a phone call to check in (and communication beforehand to answer questions), and the caretakers Cathie & BJ went above and beyond - very hospitable and friendly. We arrived later than planned and had a bit of trouble finding it in the dark (Google put us at the wrong address!), but Cathie came out and helped us out. The only suggestion I would add to the other feedback I've read, is you may want to bring some bottled/spring water to drink. The well water taste may not always be how it was for us, and certainly it was safe to drink, but we preferred a more familiar taste. Also, the listing may be made more accurate with updated photos of the beach. It has evolved significantly from the sandy beach in the photos, and while my kids still had a blast exploring the by climbing the rocks and finding tide pools, for a "classic" beach experience, we drove to nearby Melmerby Beach (worth the trip!). There is also a new larger deck on the ocean side of the cottage that is not pictured and is a lovely spot to sit in the morning with a coffee. Thank you for the great vacation accommodations!

Bissful Retreat
The cottage looks directly out on the ocean and offers an amazing vista each day regardless of the weather. Really enjoyed the many hours on the beach enjoying the views, relaxing, swimming and reading. Cathie and BJ are wonderful hosts attentive to every need.
