"Our overnight stay at The Portland guest house went very well. We managed to park close by and the check-in process was very speedy. Unfortunately, though, I hadn't taken into consideration that, being a town house, there would be a lot of stairs with an open balustrade which was an issue for my partner who suffers from a form of vertigo but, after explaining the situation to Rachel, Sian dealt with it quickly by putting us in a room on a lower floor. "Lovely guest house. Family room was right at the top of the house which was fine for us but would be a challenge for those who maybe less able. Perfect location. Spotlessly clean. Plenty of bedding, toiletries provided and ample tea/coffee/biscuits. The beds were the comfiest we’ve stayed in! "

"We liked where it was situated. Not right in town but only a short walk to restaurants,coffee shops and all the tourist sights. "

I did try to arrange an early, takeaway breakfast due to an early start but unfortunately this didn't happen but that was my only issue."

"Beautiful pub and room was decorated really comfortably. Bathroom was also decorated really well although a bit tired and the aircon unit outside the window was rattling away, couldn’t close the window to block the noise as it had been jammed open. Breakfast service was poor, waited 20 minutes before getting given a menu and then gave up waiting after that"

"Steve and Ann made us feel so welcome. Nothing too much trouble. All the little extras were so thoughtful. A very substantial continental breakfast provided in your room so no dash for breakfast in the morning. A little front garden with table and chairs which was ideal for a late night drink."

"I was lead to believe (from hotels.com presentation) I had a cabin with a private hot tub, and would therefore expect an en-suite. I had a double room with shared facilities, very poor accessible shower. Room was clean and fine for my needs. I didn’t read the fine print so had difficulty in gaining entry, but after numerous phone calls (answer phone messages) and a prolonged email chat, access was afforded. "The property was outstanding from the room & bed to the Wi-Fi and freshly cooked breakfast. Fresh slices of cake were placed in the room daily, which was a lovely personal touch. The room also had smart TV with Netflix available. The owner was amazing with his knowledge and tips for the tourist attractions, eating out and local sites to see. We had laundry washed, folded and put back in room for a small fee. Would highly recommend this property, I doubt you could find better. "
