"Great location if you’re visiting Hyotan Onsen etc. En-suite showers are a little small, and the hot water isn’t very hot (which is strange for a hotel with a hot spring). Not a big deal though because you could just go downstairs and shower in the on site hot spring. The Rooms had a great view of the city and the sea. Overall pretty decent place."

"Property was a bit difficult to get to and in a location not near other attractions (except for the beppu ropeway area). The hotel itself was excellent. The concept was unique and the rooms were great. It was fun discovering and enjoying all the artwork hidden throughout the hotel grounds. Breakfast and dinner options were both diverse and delicious. High quality and great service. "

"The breakfast was simple and nice. It was a good way to kick start our morning. My girl totally enjoyed the breakfast. The room was spacious and clean. We love the laundry room at level 2. Life saving. Staff were nice and helpful too. "

They offer 3 different private baths that you can easily self-reserve via a timeslot board. Bathrooms & refrigerator are shared. Complimentary coffee. "We stayed here for a night in a private room. The area is very well located - this was the biggest advantage. Amenities are limited compared to other hotels that I've stayed in..e.g. slippers cost extra, only 1 towel complimentary per person per stay, etc. But overall, I had picked it for the convenience, and that goal was achieved. Will recommend for very short stays!"

Delightful Beppu Onsen experience

"Bettei Haruki is unique having only 6 spacious Japanese rooms. We loved their two gorgeous Onsen rooms which were perfect in every detail - will never forget these onsens and will miss them dearly. We had their omasake dinner menu which was served with much care. Well done Bettei Haruki management. "

Enjoy a genuine Japanese experience!

"This part of our Japanese trip was terrific in all its aspects. We had a bit of drive, and a late lunch was the first thing on the agenda. We were directed to several nearby restaurants to choose where to go. Our luggage was secured. When we returned and checked in, the customer service was exceptional. We were shown all the facilities, and the owner demonstrated how to use them. I was surprised we had to nominate our mealtimes, but I later understood why. We pre-booked dinner, and it was superb. It included hot and cold dishes and was very filling. The quality of the meal was second to none. After dinner, we enjoyed an onsen that was included in our accommodation. I loved it - the privacy and the experience. The bedding on the floor which for someone who was cramping badly overnight - it proved difficult for me to escape the pain. However, that was a distraction rather than any fault with the facility in the scheme of things. Breakfast was equally good. Overall, this was a fabulous stay, and the hosts were typical of the Japanese, very polite and accommodating. When the next day, we visited many of the sites in Beppu, and we were grateful that we took the opportunity to visit the town and this hotel. "
