A nice courtyard hotel within a Hutong
Room was decent and it was nice and quiet. Friendly staff. Some people might not like sleeping on a firm mattress, but I was ok with that. Wifi was weak and unstable. Overall, a good place to stay at.

Location is perfect, close to subway station (North of the hotel is 南锣鼓巷 station, lines 6 and 8) and the Forbidden City (in the South). Less than 20 mins walk in the North takes you to Houhai lake, an area which is full of night-life. Between the Houhai lake and the mentioned subway station there are a lot of restaurants and shops. Staff is kind and helpful. The room was cleaned up everyday and breakfast was good.

My stay was okay!
Pros: Andy, the front desk agent spoke English very well and went above and beyond to help with tours and transportation. Cons: You have to enter the hotel through a dirty alley. Also, the beds are very firm.

Great hotel in a great location
It was a great hotel located just behind the Forbidden City -- rooms are clean, beds are firm but that is standard in China. Helpful staff, great location, beautiful courtyard.

Good Hutong Hotel Experience
Good hotel overall for those wanting the hutong experience. A little hard to find, but they have installed signs to help direct within the hutong. The wifi is completely useless and shouldn't even be advertised. Some rooms have a cool view from the bathroom of the Jingshan park pagoda. Breakfast is decent with good coffee. All in all it's a local favorite of ours and we keep coming back.

Jingshan Garden
This was our second stay at the Jingshan garden. The first time was in June, during the summer. This time was during winter. Although we stayed here for the same reasons as we did for summer, site seeing etc. this hotel is better suited for the summer traveler. The outside courtyard is not covered and was very cold sitting outside.

Cold. Space heater helped some, but overall uncomfortable stay. Not much activity in this hutong, which made walking around feel unsafe. Hard to find a cab at airport willing to transport us. Five told us it was too far. When we asked an official who was directing people in the taxi cue to help us, he found us a cab driver for 250 rmbs (cost 100 rmbs upon return). Positive-near jinghen park which offered great views of forbidden city at sunset.

The Hutong Experience
It was close to the sites and close to shopping. I loved staying in the hutong area. I felt like it was the real Chinese experience.

Great location in Beijing Hutongs - Affordable
The hotel is great for adventurers who are looking to immerse themselves in the Beijing Hutongs (residential houses). One piece of advice is to find the address of the Hutong street instead of the Hotel just in case the taxi drivers do not know where it's located. The taxi will drop you off at the entrance of the Hutong and not in front of the hotel. There is a bit of walking involved. The neighbourhood may look intimidating at first, but the locals are super friendly. Expect low heating in the breakfast hall during winter. There is an electric heater in your room with the bare minimum. Hotel staff is very friendly, with limited English proficiency (a luxury for local hotels). Hotel rooms face the traditional courthouse and staff is always ready to help. Great location near Forbidden Palace and in the heart of downtown. Staff was able to let us in after midnight.

Loved This Hotel
This hotel took you back to old China in a great way. Although it was in a busy area, the hotel was so quiet and peaceful. The staff was wonderful and helpful. And the breakfast was a wonderful representation of traditional Chinese food. We would go back again.

Comfortable hotel in traditional Chinese "hutong"
The Jingshan Courtyard hotel is a breath of fresh air. Several of the hotels we stayed at during our China trip were modern international hotels. But we wanted our first hotel to give us more of the “China” experience. The Jingshan Courtyard Hotel did that. It is located down a narrow alley in a “hutong” : traditional Chinese neighborhood with streets not designed for cars. You can’t take a taxi to the hotel’s door, although it was an easy, well-marked, two minute walk from the nearby main street, Jingshan Park Street. After stepping though the simple lobby of the hotel, you are presented with a breathtakingly beautiful courtyard. The rooms are well-appointed, and the bathroom was spacious with a very comfortable modern shower. Note: For those who have trouble with stairs, there is no elevator, and the breakfast room is on the second floor. Our room came with breakfast included. The breakfast area is a beautiful wooden room with a delicious buffet. An omelet and a cup of fresh brewed espresso is included. The location is ideal, across the street from famous Jingshan Park, which overlooks the Forbidden City. The hotel is walking distance from the North Gate of the Forbidden City. It is also a short ride on the 111 electric trolley bus to the tourist shopping district. I will caution that the Chinese like their beds extra firm, and these beds were the firmest of the several hotels we stayed in. (By our last night, I felt I would get bruises if I slept another night

A great place to stay at.
Great location, just a minute from Jingshan park overlooking the city and walking distance to Forbidden city and subway line 8. The hotel is hid away in a old Beijing style hutong and is beautiful. The beds are amazing and bathroom is great. Good AC, heater so we never froze even though it was freezing outside. Breakfast was great, however the room you eat in gets cold (wear a jacket).

Spacious room in good condition
We got a free upgrade to room on the 2nd floor, the room was spacious. Despite the location was a bit far from subway, we still recommend it because it's of good value and the service was good.

Great hotel. Highly reccommended!
We loved our stay at Jingshan Garden Hotel! The bedroom and bathroom were beautiful and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is located just off Jingshan park and about a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest subway station, walking along the main roads is easier to navigate as it's easy to get lost in the hutong and can be quite eerie at night!

Nice hutong stay...but very quiet indeed
It was a very unique stay...liked everything some small issues were resolved quickly Staff is very attentive when needed. Rooms were very comfortable overall It is hard to find...even for taxi driver. Have hotel # handy just in case and get someone to write you CHINESE directions before you get into taxi..drivers do not speak any English.

Comfy hotel, clean and spacious
We arrived at 3a.m. plus in the morning. The staff handled our check in speedily. We were shown to rooms which were spacious, clean and comfy. Ours came with breakfast in the morning. If you don't mind walking, you can take slow walks to the Palace Museum and several parks. There are shops nearby selling noodles and rice. A good and satisfying stay.

Comfortable stay
We spent five nights at Jingshan Garden Hotel and we were pleased with our booking with them. Their staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfy. My kids liked the shower (with big heating lights) good for showering without shivering on cold winter nights. Breakfast was good. All in all a good stay.

pleasant
It was nice and the staff was nice but unfortunately they weren't very good at English. Lucky my partner could speak Chinese. The taxis also struggle to find the place and it looks like it is located in a slum. The area however is safe even though it looks like a ghetto. It is close to the station but be careful when taking the short was as you could easily get lost.

Wonderful charming hotel in a hutong area near the Forbidden City. Off the beaten track, in a local neighborhood, quiet and mellow. Friendly and helpful staff
