"Lovely old hotel currently being renovated. The new lift will be wonderful as there are a lot of stairs. Great location. Marvellous staff. Very comfortable rooms with upgraded bathrooms. Recommend for a visit. "

"Our attic room was cute and comfortable and very clean, with a view of the abbey. Tea/coffee/milk were unlimited in supply; check-in was seamless and the guest house is very well located. The only problem was parking: we did find a space but it was a bit of a walk, not really a problem for us and perhaps to be expected as we arrived quite late in the day on a bank holiday weekend. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay."

"Just had a 3 night stay at The Old Lodge with my 7 year old son. Everything was as good as it could be, amazing room overlooking the grounds, really comfy beds, nice bathroom, everything nice and clean, staff were brilliant really friendly and professional.. we didn't eat in the evening here we ate out every night but the breakfast was lovely plenty of choice for my son... Couldn't ask for more really and Malton is a lovely little place lots of shops and pubs ... Overall I'd give The Old Lodge 10/10 !!"

"This is a wonderful property and unusual for a hotel with a spa. It is located in the market town of Helmsley which offers a great selection of places to wander to. The hotel has a range of rooms - this time we stayed in a spa suite and couldn’t fault it. A large entrance into a separate living area, a huge bedroom and bathroom with fabulous bath tub and separate shower. Breakfast was delicious with a range of options. The spa is included in the price too, which is another reason to visit this hotel. The outdoor swimming pool was heated to a perfect temperature which enabled us to spend time outdoors on both a cloudy, chilly day and one with wonderful sunshine. There are 4 heated experiences - I loved the salt steam room. The quirky lounge is another hit- instead of loungers there are a range of huge chairs and sofas with blankets - perfect for a chill and/ or an accidental doze! Love this place and can’t wait to come back."

"My husband and I used the hotel as a base to explore the area. It was perfect. The building is immaculate. The welcome at reception was warm and very helpful. All of the staff we spoke to were friendly, seemed happy and were very accommodating. The food in Tykes was very good. Fresh milk in the fridge in the room - perfect. Easy parking in a large car park. Absolutely lovely place to stay and we hope to again. "
