Set within 4000m2 of gated grounds, Villa Alexandria is a rare jewel that has a privileged and peaceful hillside location, flanked by silver and green olive groves and with exquisite sweeping views across scenic Souda Bay to the majestic White Mountains in the South. You will not find a finer location on this coastline, and despite the countrified setting above the sea, a 12 minute stroll brings you to the tavernas and cafes on the quaint village square in Plaka where you can pick up your groceries at the well stocked mini markets, while away the hours sipping Greek coffee, cocktails or cold beer, or enjoy a mouth-watering meal at one of the excellent tavernas or the Italian restaurant. A short 4 minute drive will take you down to Almyrida which has a good selection of shops, cafes and tavernas which line the family friendly sandy beach that shelves gently into the crystal clear turquoise sea.
As befits such a splendid location Villa Alexandria's owners have created a gorgeous home that is modern, bright and airy, incredibly spacious and ideal for relaxed summer living. The layout of the property incorporates a main villa with 3 bedrooms and an independently accessed pool house with a further 2 bedrooms, making it ideal for large families or groups who like to holiday whilst still having the option of privacy. Our low and mid season prices, when the villa can be rented without the pool house (which would be locked) but with full access to all of the facilities, also make this gorgeous property accessible to couples and small families who want to treat themselves to a very special holiday.
The design of the both the villa and pool house has been carefully considered in order to bring your living area into the outdoors. Wall to wall glass sliding doors that showcase the magnificent sea views, and tasteful furnishings and fabrics in the traditional Greek colours of blue and white and complementary earth tones, combine together to create such a calming ambience that you unwind as soon as you walk through the front door.
Your comfort is assured with every possible modern convenience having been provided for at Villa Alexandria, which is truly the recipe for a very lazy holiday! The villa is equipped with a high definition TV, satellite TV, a DVD player, Free WIFI internet access, a fully fitted kitchen which includes a ceramic hob, a built-in oven, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, and kettle. There is also a washing machine, iron and ironing board, white aluminium doors, windows and electric shutters, electric gates and private parking. The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater. Every room has independent air-conditioning and the A/C units double up as heaters, and for the cooler nights early and late season there is also under floor heating and a feature fireplace. For entertainment purposes, for “children” both young and old there is a games room in the lower level with table tennis, and table football.
The sleeping accommodation has been equally well thought-out. All of the bedrooms have en suite facilities and direct access onto the outside terraces, and from 4 of the 5 bedrooms you can lie in bed and gaze out to the sparkling azure sea. Romantic couples will particularly appreciate the principal bedroom and en-suite bathroom which take up the entire top floor of the main villa and even have their own sun terrace with expansive views over the entire area. The 4th bedroom and en-suite bathroom are in the pool house, and the 5th sleeping area/bedroom (also in the pool house) comprises of a living/sleeping area with a fold-out couch - good for 1 adult or 2 children, a z-bed, a kitchenette and an en suite shower room. The pool house may be particularly suited to teenagers who like to be part of the family holiday whist being able to retain their independence and come and go without disturbing their parents.
The attractive grounds and many outside terraces take full advantage of the commanding views and are often blessed by a cooling offshore breeze. Dominating this little oasis is the 10m infinity pool with its cooling waters that sparkle invitingly and appear to merge seamlessly into the aquamarine sea in the foreground of the view. With a choice of sun on the pool terrace or shade under the olive trees, there are many perfect spots where you can lie back and read a good book or simply enjoy the captivating views with a glass of something chilled from a local winery. In the early evening when your appetite has been stimulated by the hot sun and sea air, adults can grill a delicious meal of freshly caught fish on the barbeque. There could perhaps be nothing more idyllic than eating al-fresco as the sun goes down and the picturesque bay, coastline and mountains are bathed with pink, crimson and gold hues.
It is very rare to find a pool on Crete that has any form of heating which is a huge plus at the start and end of the season when the pools can be chilly. Fortunately the swimming pool at Villa Alexandria has a heating source from environmentally friendly solar panels and is therefore suited for swimming later and earlier in the season. (Please bear in mind, however, that the actual temperature is dependent upon the amount of sun each day and how cool it gets at night).
With such good facilities and views for as far as the eye can see, you could be forgiven for never wanting to leave Villa Alexandria, but for those who like to walk there is a choice of interesting trails through the surrounding olive groves. For example the village and tavernas can be easily reached whilst, or a track brings you to the some fascinating rock formations which have been shaped over time by the sea, the salt flats where rock salt dries out naturally in the sun, and a small rocky cove where you can swim from the rocks.
In summation it has to be said that Villa Alexandria is a completely enchanting villa that is ideal for the uncompromising holidaymaker who expects luxury, comfort and outstanding views, just a short distance on foot or by car to a variety of tavernas, shops, sandy beaches and water sports.

*** As of January 01, 2024, the Greek government have replaced the old “bed tax” with a new tax that is applied to all stays in short-term rental accommodation in Greece. The Climate Resilience Levy is a response to the devastating forest fires and floods that Greece has experienced in recent years, with the government hoping to generate extra funding that will go towards financing reconstruction, supporting victims, and increasing the country’s defences against future natural disasters.
The owners of all short-term rental accommodation are legally obliged to collect the Climate Resilience Levy as a separate tax for all overnight stays (per villa) as follows:
In 2024: €10.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29.
In 2025: €15.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29.
The Vrbo system does not yet have a section for collecting the Climate Resilience Levy and we have, therefore, had to add it to the billing section as an extra fee which will show on the booking as a Host Fee (until Vrbo update their system).
Whilst we understand the potential budget concerns of our guests, this tax/levy is beyond our control and we encourage our guests to see this as a way of contributing to the protection of the planet and the beautiful area where they are holidaying.
