A lovely, cosy cottage in beautiful surroundings
We had a really relaxing time here.
The cottage is small but that suited us, and the view across the fields filled with all kind of wildlife was superb (not forgetting the chickens next to us and the three walking ducks!).
And the huge windmill next to the canal is something to behold.
Hans, the host, was really welcoming and helpful and if you want to lean more about the windmill then Google 'Vrouwgeest windmill' and learn how it has been in his family since 1797.
The cottage we stayed in was built by Hans from a Dutch hay storage building with a roof that would have been raised and lowered (thus the poles and the pulleys).
And as for Holland – glorious.
The Dutch are so friendly and speak better English than many Brits I know, and Gouda and the cheese experience is recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and really didn’t want to leave. Thank you Hans..
