"The unit we had was on the 3rd floor but since the elevator was temporarily out of service, Andre, the manager carried our bags up for us. He was most accommodating. He hand the night assistant, Phillipe is also very helpful. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and there is free parking at the Convento Sao Francisco is a short 5 min walk away and it is open from 7am to Midnight so we parked our car there and either walked or took cabs to any place we wanted. "Free parking is located 5 min walk away at a Convent or Convention centre (?) - it was super convenient. This was suggested to us by the Host - thank you! Location was great! Everything we wanted to see and experience was walking distance away. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. Communication with the host was easy and friendly."

"The staff was immediately friendly and kind. They helped us upgrade our room, leave our bags before check-in, and gave us a tour of the guesthouse. The kitchen was clean and big. The room was beautiful and comfortable. There is no soap or shampoo but it was okay as we brought our own. "

"It’s a family business, very peaceful and clean environment. Owner is very friendly. The garden is beautiful and breakfast was delicious. It was homemade and the coffee was the best. Highly recommended."

"The apartment made us experience the life in the old city which was nice. But the place was not as shown on the reservation site (the bedroom was not made of stonewalls). Also, it didn’t look like it was well taken care of. The electric blinds were worn out and one literally fell off the wall. I wrote an email to the owner but never heard from them. I slept one night out of 3 because there is zero insonorisation and the party from down the hill goes from 11:00 until 5:00 in the morning! ...

"Big room in a quiet old manor/estate. A bit hard to find, google did okay however the entrance was not signed very well. Stairs to room, good breakfast and quiet area. Grounds are dated but the house is clean and spacious. Host was helpful offering maps of the area and ideas for restaurants. "

"The hotel is simply beautiful, very nicely decorated and centrally located within walking distance to all sightseeing sites. Our room looked to the square with amazing view of the main square and the river. We learned that the hotel was renovated 4 yrs ago and lobby is very impressive with half million little mosaic squares that simulate the biblioteca Joanina. The breakfast was very complete and served on the roof top with outside and indoor sitting. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The staff and especially Mark were very friendly and accommodating. They kept our luggage when we arrived before the check in time so we could enjoy the town and after checkout as well. When we had two hours to kill before our train departure, we were still able to use the roof top. He also gave us great restaurant recommendations. The room walls and bathroom and showers and even the sink were decorated as we were in the library. Overall, we loved the hotel, the staff, the breakfast and location. You will not be disappointed! "

"Wonderful experience in this fabulous old palace. Stunning public rooms and gardens. The staff were superb. Restaurant was very good, also a very good buffet breakfast. We upgraded to a larger room with a view of the forest. Only slight issue was the lack of a fridge and safe in the room. Plenty of parking and easy to find."
