" Stunning location high overlooking the Atlantic with stairs down to the beach. Immaculate property, attentive service and excellent food. We ate all breakfasts and 2 of 3 dinners on property. Everyone was extremely friendly proving advice, setting up tours, etc. they even provide an intern et-enabled iphone to easily contact the concierges (also to get some updates on activities, menus, etc. Too cold and windy during our April trip to swim in the pool or ocean, but the jacuzzi was nice. Rooms are stylish but a little cold (aesthetically) and some odd design choices with glass toilet “walls” and a large tub in the room blocking movement. Would have been better with a shower and more storage. Would love to see it when it is warmer!"

"This hotel is an amazing place with a world class Botanical Garden attached and beautiful thermal baths throughout, guests have 24 hour access to both. They have an indoor pool steam and dry sauna. The staff is very well trained and for the most part local. Everything for the client! The restaurant is 4 star and the breakfast extensive and delicious. We came to have lunch 6 months ago and vowed to come stay the next time we flew to Portugal. Well worth the trip and it will not be our last. "

"This was a magical stay. What a surprise to learn that this stay gains access to a sixth generation adjacent garden (easily 3 acres in area) not available to the public and easily comparable in beauty to the Terra Nostra gardens. Imagine sitting under vast 200 year old trees listening to nothing but birdsong and the beautiful river running through the property whilst inhaling the subtle fragrance of azaleas and clean air. And having this to yourself! The houses themselves were brilliantly laid out and equipped with every convenience. It’s a family owned and operated property (the descendants of the original Doña Beatriz whose garden lies adjacent through a tunnel of towering bamboo). Everyone was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast baskets we ordered (delivered to the door) were heaped with so much delicious local bread, pastry, and fruit that we had an extra meal for later. Walk 5 minutes through a fairytale village to excellent and reasonably priced restaurants, the Calderas, Terra Nostra, and a hidden gem of a village park/playground if you decide to spoil your little ones (did I mention the hotel has 24 hour access to the beautiful pool, sun loungers, and wading pools?) Let the tots nap in the quiet house while you listen for them through the open windows and sip wine on your private patio. The two creative types I traveled with left inspired and recharged. I would go back in a heartbeat and stay for a week to enjoy the area!"
