"For an extremely friendly stay I can highly recommend Balmacara. The rooms are excellent with great views either over the Loch - front - or the mountains - back. The owners and staff could not be friendlier and more helpful. The hotel itself, being just a mile or so on this side of the Skye Bridge, is ideally placed for a day on Skye. I can also highly recommend the restaurant, which is helpful given the dearth of options in the area. "

"Good value , great location , nicely appointed rooms , only reason I marked it down was the walls were very thin , could hear the guest next door on the phone at 6:15am , don’t know if he just had a loud voice but woke us up , other than that I’d recommend this hotel "

"Donald was exceptionally friendly and welcomed us, said he was glad to meet us. Also, he texted to ask our arrival time so he could greet us. Nice breakfast area with really good lattes."

"We have travelled and stayed in too many hotels to count. There have so far been 2 that have stood out in our minds as giving excellent service. The Loch Maree has jumped to number one. Duncan who welcomed us, was fantastic. He surpassed any previous number ones! He could not do enough to help and make sure that we were comfortable and had all that we needed. When the Callan, came back from his holiday, he again was lovely, helpful and kind, but Duncan had already taken the top spot. The food was very good. We noticed that some people complained about the lack of choice. It is the end of the season and hotels are closing down, so naturally the choice will be a bit less. Each night there was a couple of different choices, from the night before. Had absolutely no complaint about the food, presentation and flavours."
