"Easy checking in but only from 2pm to 6pm. Very comfy bed, warm room, tea and coffee facilities. Powerful shower. Handy location very close to train station. Pay and display car park behind pub however can only park from 2pm to 5am and then need to leave for an hr before return. Unfortunately room smelled of cigarette smoke. "Great staff and a lovely pie for the evening meal. The room was comfortable and warm with a good bed. Only slight negative on the room was the bathroom smelled (village plumbing I guess) and was a little cold as the window didn’t close properly. Breakfast was OK too."

"Very convenient for Stansted airport. Code on door for access to bedroom did not work. Urgently needs addressing."

"Very old historic building with lots of character. Room large, bed comfy, coffee machine and biscuits but no bottled water. Good shower, good breakfast included cooked to order. Staff friendly and helpful. WiFi rubbish, TV not great but was cool that it was hidden in the panelled wall. Short walk to paid parking. Overall a positive stay, would stay again. "

"Room was excellent. En-suite was fantastic. Very clean and good stay. It is a public house and music finishing at midnight all good for us on first night but music being slightly turned down and finishing between 3 and 4am not so considerate for guests."

"We had a lovely stay. The hosts were welcoming and friendly - they clearly enjoy and take pride in their job. The room was clean, comfortable and well stocked with amenities (after a long day the hot chocolate was well needed!). Breakfast in the morning was excellent quality."

"Very friendly place, very busy in bar area but accommodation separate (& quiet 😊👍)… enjoyed looking round the bar area after breakfast next day, lots of interesting items/photos etc and nice to be away from the ‘corporate’ feel that most hotels seem to have these days. I’m sure we’ll be back."
