"The building, both inside and out, is stunning. The lobby area is absolutely gorgeous. The attached restaurant and pub, The Refuge, was top class and a lot of fun. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. I did get a very creepy feeling later that evening from our room and the hallway. I asked the receptionist if the place was haunted. She said, "oh yeah, but mostly in the second floor". We were on the third, so no worries. I love quirky places anyhow. It was overall an amazing stay....

"Every member of staff we met, without exception where friendly and helpful. The hotel was stunning and the view from our room was outstanding. My husband and I agreed that the quality of the food was better that any we have experienced, including Michelin starred restaurants. Cannot praise this special hotel enough. "

"An excellent repeat stay for us -- the pool facilities are superb, rooms have good air conditioning and breakfast is good (although patience may be required to have the order delivered correctly). Buxton itself is very nice, too. Convenient paid parking (4 hour) nearby."

"Beautiful hotel and ideal for staying before travelling from Manchester Airport. The hotel was very clean and staff were friendly. We were asked to provide our arrival time but the room wasn’t ready yet, and the bar was full when we arrived with staff, so we had to wait in a cramped corner. The WiFi also wasn’t working throughout our stay. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay!"

"Stayed here in November 2023 and the only issue then was the plug release in the bath was broken. We stayed again in the same room September 2024 and they have still not fixed the plug release I had to get a teaspoon and pry it open!! Apart from that the food is fantastic and service brilliant. Sad to see the Candal factory has gone under after 50 years. We will be back might try a different room next time. "
