The train station is nearby to get to other cities if you wanted to, otherwise it is quite isolated in this area. Walking over to Quinta do Crasto for a wine tasting & tour was a highlight of the area too! The Quinta offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner which was very convenient. "Absolutely beautiful place. We stayed in a modern room - number 1 - with a beautiful outdoor patio and separate balcony overlooking the town. A tub & a shower! Lovely lobby area with multiple seating options, fireplaces and outdoor gardens. Highly recommend! Breakfast was plentiful and Delicious! "

"The hotel facilities seem quite nice, just lack of service staff. However the room we were assigned on the 1st floor does not have Wifi. The young fellow was kind enough to change us to a room on the 3rd floor, which was ok for us although it lacks certain amenities. The worst thing happened was upon the check out. We made the reservation on Orbitz and prepaid the total amount on June 9th (~a month prior). When we check out, the reception lady asks us to pay again. We showed her Orbitz...

"What an amazing hotel ! It's split into two halves, with the dining (and much more - chapel, art gallery, lovely rooms, including a games room!) in a separate building across the courtyard. If it's raining, there is a tunnel connecting the two! The breakfast was very good - the evening meal (we had half-board) was reasonably good, not outstanding.
