"The hotel is beautiful and one of our favorite places in Peru so far. The hot springs were wonderful, the room was spacious and very clean (a little cold despite the heater and beds are very soft). The restaurant was ok, not great (I had to send back my order because instead of "grilled", my food was raw but they redid it and it was better). The staff was welcoming. Learn more about Tapay

Head to Sangalle Oasis and Condor's Cross—just two of the sights around Tapay.

Tapay is a small village in the Colca Canyon, 2900 metres above sea level. Most organised treks don't include a visit here, so if you really want to get off the beaten track, come to Tapay.

Its elevation affords some stunning views across the surrounding countryside, and if you arrive mid-afternoon (as we did) it is unlikely you will see any other locals here, let alone other tourists. Rustic, authentic, isolated, and beautifully peaceful, Tapay can easily be visited in a 2-day self-guided trek from Cabanaconde.
