"If there's a b & b anywhere where the hosts are more attentlve, i've yet to visit it. A real gem of a place, spotlessly clean, great breakfast and a 5 minute walk to the town centre make this a great place to come. We have been twice now and there is sure to be a third when we revisit Dumfries."

"The hotel is a stately home. More like a Manor that is just outside Penpont; Thornhill is just a 5 min drive. It’s located in a gorgeous area surrounded by lovely old oak trees and the Scaur River. Excellent for a good walk. "

"We enjoyed our stay. Our room was comparatively small, aside from the king-sized bed - it's an old inn after all - but very comfortable and well equipped. We stayed there essentially because of the prospect of good food, and we certainly enjoyed our meal. The folk there were welcoming so it was a good experience, ."

"Southpark House is a well run guest house in a fabulous location. The owners are very welcoming and friendly. The guest house is well maintained and extremely clean. Breakfast is out of this world, freshly cooked and a fantastic selection to choose from. The bedroom was immaculate, the bed was so comfortable and the en-suite was pristine. An absolute joy to stay there. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to stay in Dumfries and the surrounding areas."
