"We had a truly outstanding experience at this hotel. The staff were so helpful, friendly and attentive to every detail, even to the extent of delivering to us at the airport a phone charging cable weā€™d accidentally left behind in our room after checking out! It was probably one of the best customer experiences we have ever come across anywhere in the world and far better than the vast majority of five star hotels we have stayed in elsewhere (and weā€™ve stayed in dozens all over the world)....

"The staff are wonderful. Very polite and always try to help. However hotel itself is not quite ready for overseas guests. Took long time to check in (I booked thru Expedia); in-room telephone is for inside hotel use only--couldn't even call within Luoyang; did not inform guests about a fire drill and we walked 11 floors for nothing; no hangers in room, had to ask; nothing to put a suitcase on, had to set the suitcase on floor; no closet; light sensor for bathroom annoying--had to waive for light...

"Expedia writes "includes continental breakfast" which is not true. The breakfast is Chinese vegetables and cold berry juice (no bread or coffee so this is an error). Staff speak no English but try to be helpful. They ordered us a taxi. Expedia also doesn't tell you that you have to pay a 600 deposit on arrival (this came as a difficulty for us). You get this back when leaving. Hotel is aging , evidently grand in its day but furntiture easily broken and tiles in bathroom old, bed hard....
