"The room, as expected was pretty basic for $74 USD. But it was clean. The staff is very friendly. Although I found it odd that music in the dining hall and main area started to play at 7am and could be heard into the rooms. Music should not start until later, regardless of breakfast time to respect guests long travel days and needing sleep. Other than that, it was a good experience. "

"Ilo Rojo is on hill, a steep hill. And at first it seems daunting, but it is worth the climb. Our room had a generous balcony/terrace that looked over the city and beyond. The staff here are extremely efficient, helpful and friendly (a special shout-out to Lupita, Martin and Angel). There is a bus stop almost outside the entrance, which runs every 5 minutes or so it seems and for a whopping 8 pesos you don't have to walk the 20 minutes to downtown (or more importantly back up.) "Lovely hotel, excellent staff. Room was unexpected — we thought we were getting a Master Suite with one bed as shown in pics on Expedia and the hotel website, but we got a room with two beds — the second bed took up most of the space so there was hardly room to sit and have a coffee. Also, there was construction noise all day, every day — not the hotel’s fault but no siestas to be had."
