"Staff were friendly and helpful, my heater was on when I arrived so my room was lovely and warm, the onsite cafe was awesome, nice food, however I thought the place was alittle run down in places and was looking forward to a spa but was put off by the charge for each person, I thought the use would be included with the accommodation price"

"We were upgraded from a 2 bedroom to a 5 bedroom (we still only used 2 bedrooms) but had a nice large house with a fireplace. Loved coming in from the snow to a cosy house. "

"Clean and comfortable. Smart TV and modern furnitures. Great place and location. Upstairs is very warm when it’s sunny. The place is well equipped for a family; washing machine, kitchen etc. Love staying there! Wish there is an English Breakfast or Earl Grey option for tea instead of just peppermint or chamomile or green tea. Apart from that, it’s at the end of the cul de sac so it’s quiet."

"A great cost-effective alternative to Ohakune if driving north for a day skiing. The rooms, although a little dated are clean and well equipped, and appear to be being gradually modernised over time. Staff are helpful and friendly."

"When you pull up it doesn’t look very inviting and a bit dated BUT when you enter the apartment you will be blown away! All brand new appliances, beautifully decorated, and spacious!!! Highly recommend."

"The River Lodge is a beautiful property set in lovely grounds. We had a large beautiful room, very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and a balcony with a wonderful view of the mountain. We had fabulous breakfasts and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside is that it is quite remote - about a 10 minute drive into Ohakune."
