Grand Bear Resort at Starved Rock

3.0 star property
7.4 out of 10, Good, (700)
"We stayed in a Villa for our family Christmas weekend. It was nice to have a space we could all share and be together in- especially one that had the water park for the kids. (They all gave the water park 👍👍). The property has seen some better days, though making it over priced for what's being offered (throw in the $750 deposit and it was real overpriced). "Overall this day was really well. House was old and outdated. Had only one TV in the entire house where there could have been four or five TVs. There was only one and it was a small TV in the front room that was on a swivel. One electrical plug did not work and the plug for the bathtub did not work. The beds were old and stiff and springy and only full size beds. It would have been nice to have at least a queen or a king for my wife and I otherwise not a bad place. Had a full size basement....

"The Tiskilwa Inn is nicely restored mansion originally built in 1848. It has 5 guest rooms, all recently refurbished in the finest style. Our first night we were the only guests so it felt like our own private stately home. I want to go back so I can stay in each of the other four rooms."
