"I returned to the Santa Maria Boutique by the Sea a few days prior to my flight from Trivandrum international airport. It's such a pleasant stay, right on the beach with the sound of the surf always in the background, and soft breezes blowing off the Indian Ocean. The food is wonderful, and the owners and staff make you feel right at home. The ride to Trivandrum airport was literally only a few minutes, a very pleasant and unhurried experience. "I believe I overpaid for a mediocre property (more than 7k/day). Reception and dining were very poor. Not enough space in the property to wander around. Food was an utter disappointment, but it had some sky rocketed price like a 4 star resort. Based on what I ordered, I recommend you to change your Chef. Apartment was compact and clean. Staff behavior was cool & pleasant. Didn't use Ayurvedic facility, so comment on that. Reception neither had the courtesy to welcome customers nor had the space...

"We had a great two weeks in the hotel with the staff being very flexible in accommodating us. The hotel is metres away from the beach, we had a sea view room with air conditioning which was very pleasant. However, the photos of the hotel on Expedia we saw are at least 20 years old and the hotel is no way a 4* hotel by western standards. There is no restaurant as part of the hotel any more, although there is a breakfast room which seems to get food from a neighbouring hotel. We were given...

Atmospheric, traditional and kind

"It is a place full of character. Delightful staff (limited English with some did not take away from their kindness and personal care). The building is all traditional Kerala, lots of dark wood, and a very amusing lift playing Tamil music. My balcony faced the fires of coconut palms, with birds occasionally calling out, but the dominant sound was the breakers as the beach is 20 metres down the lane. The room was spacious and comfortable: a bit old fashioned so this is not a modern smart business hotel. It is much better. I really enjoyed my stay. The worst thing was the feeble WiFi. Plenty of storage and the bathroom entirely adequate. Its proximity to the beach, the quieter end, is a bonus. "
