"The room was tiny, dirty and stuffy with no AC to help regulate the temperature. We had to pay extra for a bed that I would have assumed came with the room as I booked it for three people. Staff were often not around at the front desk to help, because they were short staffed. Machines in the games room, stopped working (although a discount was offered when this happened). Breakfast was okay. But the restaurant was overpriced and poor quality. We ordered Patas Braves and got and burnt plate...

"This hotel property is best described as "Past Due"...very past due. The rooms are very small with very old and very tired beds. Two beds means two very tiny one person (small person) bed with a memory matrass that long lost his memory with a paper thing blanket. One tiny towel but that wasn't a problem as the shower was to small to shower a adult person anyway. The included breakfast was (probably due to staffing problems) not worthy to be mentioned a breakfast. At 9 am there wasn't a lot left...

"Nice hotel in amazing location, surrounded by endless forests and cycle paths. The dining/breakfast area is the heart & soul of the hotel. Everything was fine, but the hotel is beginning to show its age and could do with a major revamp of the bedrooms. The room we stayed in was tody and clean, but old and with a funny (and awkward) lay-out. Would love to stay here again, but might just wait until the bedrooms are modernised...."

"While the owners were very pleasant and the bed was comfortable, the floors in the room were disgusting. Lots of dirt on the floors with areas that were sticky. The bathroom floors were tile and very slippery when exiting the shower. There is no storage in the room for your clothes and the television sits below the bed making it impossible to view. The room could also use a mirror in addition to the small mirror above the bathroom sink. The sheet was dirty but was not changed by housekeeping....

The Rijsterborgherpark is a city park located between the Deventer Station and the city center of Deventer. In the Deventer, this park is called "Het oude parkoen." The Rijsterborgherpark was built after 1874 on a part of the fortifications of Deventer. Around 1630 these fortifications were built outside the walls of the city. Already in 1852 there was a 'walk' between the Noordenbergpoort and the former Brinkpoort over the strongholds called the Rijsterborgherpad, to engineer and captain J.H.L. Rijsterborgh one of the designers of the Boreel barracks in town. Garden architect Leonard Anthony Springer designed the park after the Deventer fortress was closed in 1874, commissioned by the municipality in 1887. The Rijsterborgherpark suffered considerable damage during the Second World War due to Allied bombings intended for the nearby station and the railway bridge. Gerard Bleeker made a new design in the period 1948 - 1952, the execution of which was completed in 1954. In 1968 the park came on the national monument list, but in the seventies the part called the Bird Island had to be closed due to neglect and vandalism. The park was enriched in 1985 with a sculpture route. A number of artworks were placed including the statue Europe and the bull of Pieter d 'Hont from 1963, also the fountain in the Buitengracht was restored. After a major renovation in 1992, the Bird Island offers space for a restaurant, a music dome and an animal park. By a whirlwind more than a hundred monumental trees were killed on 9 September 1998. Neighboring municipalities Zwolle, Bathmen and Voorst introduced new trees and Deventer citizens raised money for the restoration. The Rijsterborgherpark has since been completely restored in the spirit of the old Springer design. The result is an open park with lots of young plantings next to old trees and good asphalt roads for everyone.
