"Hotel was good, service was excellent. Breakfast was very nice. Unfortunately they had a private function in the dining room so we had to eat else where. We had a flat tyre next morning and the owner could not have done more for us as we were having trouble getting the wheel off, he changed the wheel for us and put the faulty wheel in the boot as well. We can't thank him enough."

"Friendly reception, although limited English, so had to try my limited French. Arrived around 20:00 and was encouraged to take dinner as soon as possible. Service and food very good, excellent use of local produce and wine, simple but tasty. Good choices of a la carte and day's specials. Room was comfortable and spacious, some noise from the nearby road, but nothing that affected sleep. I did not try the breakfast as I was still full from the previous evening. Friendly farewell. "This is a lovely if basic hotel in a gorgeous location but it’s very remote and the little lane to get there is single track so perhaps not great in the dark. The food in the renowned restaurant is excellent with menus at €25, €35 and €45. However breakfast at €12 per person offers minimal choice and quantity and some may wish to decline it. Overall this is a brilliant establishment if you’re luck enough to get one of the small number of their rooms."

"La Chaumiere du Bois is the best choice if you are interested to travel around in the Pyrineys. It provides parking and is closed to commercial area of Tarbes. Unfortunately, during my stay the restaurant ws closed."
