"Essentially this is a serviced apartment and not a hotel or a resort. The rooms we were given was spacious with a sitting area, a fully equipped kitchenette, a dining area, a large TV and a Desktop [ who needs a desktop on a holiday?] The toiletries consisted of a sliver of a soap for 3 people!!! The property was managed by the driver [acting as a manager], with no front office / front desk. No passport details were obtained from us! Breakfast was eggs, toast, juice and and seasonal fruit...

"I stayed 4 nights and Riverbank Bentota and had a wonderful experience there. Although the hotel is slightly difficult to spot from the road, I didn't have trouble finding it. It is a short walk from the Aluthagama train station so great for people who are coming with the train from Colombo. "Firstly I have to say that I am totally unaccustomed to leaving negative reviews, but sadly I have to say "don't go" to this, no doubt once very classy, little boutique hotel. Before going any further it is worth mentioning that the staff (we only saw 3!) were lovely, extremely well meaning, and obliging. (We're guessing/deducing, severely let down by an absentee owner). Apart from the staff, the only other attribute was the superb position, overlooking and directly onto the river estuary....
