"Wonderful staff! They made us feel so at home and helped us book all the activities we wanted to do while visiting monteverde. The rooms do get a bit hot because there are no ac units - just one rotating fan per room. The bathroom also had a rough smell because there were no vents inside of it. But if you are looking for an affordable, safe and welcoming stay, this is definitely a wonderful pick!!"

"Lovely staff and really well kept, if admittedly spartan, facilities. The breakfasts are great and the location is within easy walking distance of one of the town's best sodas. The staff are excellent at managing expeditions and tours as well. Finally, while the bed was small and the hot water did flicker, the room held a real charm to it nestled among the trees. A good place to stay."

"The property consists of 3 modern cabins. They are on a hills side (everything in Monteverde area is on a hillside) so be prepared to hike up and down everywhere. No uber, lift or public trans, but there are taxis. Accommodations were spacious, comfortable and reasonably priced for the area. Full kitchen was nice. We couldn't figure out how to operate the stove, but we used the microwave. About a 10 minute walk into center of Santa Elena."

"We enjoyed our stay and the local wildlife. The hotel is in a good location, within walking distance to a bar and restaurant. The room has an exterior entrance for privacy, was large and had a mini fridge, which is appreciated. Coffee is only available in the main communal area, which is a bit inconvenient but at least it’s available. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious!"

"The shower's hot water is not strong enough, so you need to turn the water volume way down to have a decent temperature shower. The room sound insulation is very poor and you can easily hear the tv from next room. The room service is ok, and the bed was not set every day."

Sian took great care of us, booking our excursions, coordinating our meals, and answering all of our questions about the area. The food there was some of the best that we had in Costa Rica! They will bring breakfast and dinner to your room so you can totally relax and just chill in your cabin. El Sol truly goes above and beyond...

"A small, but mighty property!! This family run property only has 3 units, however, very much worth a stay in Monteverde. The cabins are clean, comfortable and spacious. As an added bonus, the location is perfect for a Monteverde sunset. Jose is a perfect host as well!!"
