description deceiving
The views are the best part about this property by far. BUT, if you want comfort it might not be for you. The property description says air conditioning but this is somewhat deceiving. There is one room upstairs that you can close off and cool a little but the two bathrooms, kitchen/living area, and the downstairs bathroom are hot and humid. The condo is open air and can not be closed off to the outside. Zihu is hot and muggy and so if you don't mind sleeping in that, then you will be fine. Also, do not plan to wash your hair. One bathroom has a non functioning shower head and the handheld is literally a trickle. The other has a shower head but years of hard water has blocked most of it and again, you are lucky to get a trickle. I didn't wash my hair the entire time. Lastly, the description says there is a gym which is why I selected this property. There is no gym. That part of the description was completely false. I have voiced these concerns directly to the host and it has gone ignored. In addition, I had some concerns about the safety of the area (travel warnings) the day before I left and sent a message...that one went ignored as well. Like I mentioned, the views are amazing but it comes with a lot of other not so comfortable considerations.

An unforgettable holiday getaway
We have just wrapped up the most magnificent holiday stay here! I cannot say enough about how great this place is. The apartment itself is well-appointed, decorated beautifully, and very well-sized and laid out for some privacy (my husband and I were here with my mom, whose downstairs bedroom+bathroom gave us some space while the living area was ample for marg-making and socializing). The view is incredible. The kitchen has been updated and we were able to make some great meals, in addition to visiting plenty of amazing restaurants close by. The building is in just about the best location you could ask for. Carmen is fantastic, friendly, and a treasure trove of information and knowledge. If you have the opportunity to stay on New Years Eve, you can expect a phenomenal fireworks show seen from the condo, followed by dancing on the beach all night. Can I come back now? ;)

Fantastic place! Friendly and so very hospitable! Only issue we had was air conditioning available in master bedroom only. Once we acclimated to the temperature it wasn’t an issue.

Very nice and accomodating owner. Great location, non-issue not being on La Ropa. The immediate beach below has a nice intimate feel to it. Views are great, pool at the location is quite nice. The master bed has AC, but the room below can get pretty muggy in November. The amount of space is ample... Keep in mind, it is really nice but it is not a four star resort-nor are the reasonable rates. We would go back!

Amazing Views
The property is very much as post. The views are amazing. Was not sure of the open living but ended up really enjoying it. Can't beat the sound of the surf while sleeping. Carmen - property manager was very helpful and promptly got back to our inquiries & providing the kitchen items that were lacking. Property owner were very accomodating when 2 additional beach chairs were requested. We did need to purchase 2 beach umbrellas. We would ask that they be left at condo for future renters. There were 2 couples in our group. Though 2 bedrooms one is right off entrance with no walls - curtains for privacy. In saying that the main bedroom was amazing. Large with a sitting area. All rooms had the amazing views. Also there is a lack of sitting space when all 4 of us together. We did some furniture rearranging and made it work but still tight. The kitchen is functional, We made simple breakfasts and packed lunches for beach days. Note that kitchen does not really work for cooking or dining for 4 people. We enjoyed the pool and meeting other condo unit owners and renters. In short the condo works for a family with older kids but not necessarily for 2 couples. The location is great. Right on beach (stairs to get down and up). Walkable to Centro & Play La Ropa. Many wonderful restaurants very close. Carmen thanks again for taking care of us.The building security guards were very nice & friendly.

Privacy with amazing views
We thoroughly enjoyed our few days here with a couple hiccups that didn’t interfere with our time. The views are breathtaking and if just preparing something light the kitchen is adequate. It’s living space is open to the outside but the bedroom windows close for a/c use. It’s eclectic and needs some unpdating but was a fun stay.

Great property and location
We loved the location. Close to the beach and downtown, we walked everywhere. The pool on the property was amazing. The unit is older, but was fine. Needs some updates but we didn’t spend a lot of time in the room. We ate out everyday and didn’t use the kitchen, but there isn’t much for cooking.

Best location and AMAZING views!
We could not be happier with our time at this beautiful property in Zihua! Suzette was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the booking process. Carmen and her team onsite were super nice and helpful. Very attentive to our every request! We loved the location too! So close to everything at Madiera Beach and loved taking the "beach front walk" to town every afternoon. We will definitely be back toZihua and hopefully staying here again soon!

We stayed in this unit 2 years ago and loved it, you can read my previous review . It does appear that this unit has been a little neglected in maintenance since, but we managed. The staff is all very helpful and was very attentive once they were notified. The property manager Carmen is wonderful and knowledgeable of everything Zihua.

Unit can use a facelift
We enjoyed the building and location bir this has to be the worst unit in the building. Bathroom on top floor faucets stray both sink and shower. Light switch in bathroom sometimes works other times no. Platform around bed so squeaky that would wake up your partner. Pump in bathroom very loud. Kitchen is bare minimum very sad. Bedroom downstairs probably unlivable (there were only two of us) as very hot and bathroom stinks like a sewer and smells up the bedroom - I would not recommend. If not for building itself - went into some other units and they are excellent, I would of given this place a one star.

Quirky but cozy, and a great vacation base.
This place is a diamond in the rough. It’s not large, a bit quirky, and the owners aren’t always easy to contact, but if you can cope with lots of stairs it’s well worth the climb. It’s in the heart of the less busy/touristy local’s beach, has a spectacular vista, and is within easy reach of the town center. Carmen is charming and most helpful.

The property manager is priceless, she grew up nearby and can help with anything. The location of this property is a real asset. Nearby are restaurants and shopping, all locally owned. Area residents are very friendly, we felt safe. A short walk away are the fishing boats and a wonderful open air market. All views are of the picturesque bay and the beach has a nice boardwalk which also accesses many restaurants. Very fun, always something to do when reading a book and watching the bay is not enough.

Raw Sewage
I was in the lower bedroom/bathroom and it stunk like raw sewage almost constantly. I almost wanted to vomit when I had to use the bathroom. The raw sewage smell was so bad I could smell it in my bedroom with the door closed. Livvi and Zach, the two people I was traveling with, asked me to keep my bathroom door closed so the smell didn’t drift upstairs. There was nothing in the listing that stated that the place would smell like raw sewage. And it was a known problem as was told to me by Carmen. It was known by the owner of the VRBO and the mayor of Zihuatanejo, again as told to me by Carmen. Carmen also said there was nothing they could do about the raw sewage smell. YET THEY RENTED IT OUT ANYWAY – I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! Please refund my money. Dennis

The Up n Up
The condo is everything it was supposed to be. Wonderful and the views were spectacular. The only improvement I could recommend is in the description. Not only is it on top of a very steep hill, there are three flights of stairs to climb once you get there. We are an older couple and in reasonably good shape and found it difficult to go to the beach or to town on some days dreading the return to the condo.

Excellent location
My wife, adult daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Zihuatanejo in this unit for 2 weeks in December. The location was very central which allowed us to walk downhill easily to the nearby restaurants, plaza, market, Mega, Playa La Ropa and marina. On the return however there was a set of approximately 75 steps up from the beach or a steep road up from Calle Adelita ,then another 3 stories up to the unit. The AC in the spacious main bedroom was very refreshing and needed. The bed was very comfortable although the raised platform around the bed was annoying... The main bathroom was adequate with plenty of cupboard space and a safe. The second bedroom didn’t have the AC, just 2 fans so it wasn’t as comfortable but it still had a panoramic view with a comfortable bed and small bathroom. There was a fantastic view from the main deck but there was only enough room for 1 lounger and 2 chairs. We used the beach chairs in the closet as ottomans. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for blender drinks, sandwiches and coffee. There was only a hotplate for a stove but the kitchen was far too hot to cook a supper anyways. The pool area was very relaxing with loungers. We had the pool to ourselves almost every day. Carmen, the manager, was great and responded quickly to any concerns or questions we had. Enrique, the guard and Juan, maintenance man literally jumped to always help us. Communication with the owners was very poor as most of my emails before our arrival were not answered. I didn’t even receive the complete name and address from the owner. The proper name is Bahia Suites, which the taxi drivers recognized not the address supplied by the owner. Overall I would recommend this unit for a small family of 3 only (no small children) and not 2 couples

MAGICAL
We fell in love. They were not kidding when they mention a “million dollar view”. We felt like we hit the jackpot. Carmen the on/off site manager is wonderful and so helpful. Seriously ask her questions. Best beach, best food, best shopping, etc. she will send you in the right direction. Every neighbor we met ( daily in the swimming pool ) were so friendly and had a lot of knowledge about the community and it’s residents. We had made friends on a name bases within days. We felt at home. The beach (playa la Madera) is literally steps away. The locals dive for oysters daily and your welcome to purchase a plateful with fresh lime and hot sauce. You can’t get any fresher then that. The condo is decorated in authentic Mexican decor, local art, and a great selection of books to read or thumb through . The bed is DREAMY! Book it, you won’t be sorry. The Merritt’s.

Location, Location, Location! Spacious, Rustic Mexican feel, Clean with essential amenities.
This was our second trip to Zihua, so we knew we loved the area already. This was our first VRBO booking, and we had fingers crossed that the unit matched the pictures. Thankfully it did. Actually, it’s better than the pictures because you cannot fully grasp the amazing view from pics, and the pool is really clean and refreshing. The size is ideal for a family of 4, and kudos for getting AC upstairs, if downstairs, would be ideal - can’t imagine when even hotter - but with two fans made it work. We rotated who got to sleep in the AC room. The balcony was our morning spot to have coffee (provided by owners) watch the sky change from sunrise and catch up on social media, while kids slept. We only used coffee pot and fridge to keep drinks cool and our major fish catch until we had it cooked in Playa Ropa. My husband caught a Dorado (off season) and friend caught a Sailfish - (ask for Don Guillermo). We walked to El Centro (town) everyday (2 teens rarely complained) so you know it was close - 10 minutes. Teens happy had WiFi and Netflix in unit. The building has 24 hour security which we appreciated, and felt ok discretely leaving kids sleeping and going for morning walks to town, Playa Ropa, and breakfast. The price for the breathtaking view is a steep hill referred to as ‘heart attack’ hill and 77 stairs to the beach below. Again, teens embraced the adventure, but would be challenging for anyone with mobility issues. As a reward, at the bottom of those steps is a massage hut where you can get an hour massage for $200 pesos! (Ask for ‘Wendy’) Taxis often go by the Bahia Suites but are easy to get at the bottom of heart attack hill. Several great restaurants on the street below the hill, recommend El Vado. As noted by other reviews, Carmen, the manager, is outstanding. We brought a couple of things to her attention, and she followed up. Suggest, closing windows and balcony doors before dusk, and leaving lights off if not inside, then no mosquitos, we did not do the first night bc were told no mosquitos so high up - and some got a lot of bites which was unfortunate. Do spray when out in evening to avoid bites. Would definitely stay here again, with a few notes for owners. As I type this on couch back home, I close my eyes and see the view from the balcony and hear the crashing waves below.

Very clean, spacious, gorgeous view! It's very easy to relax here! Friendly staff and close to the central part of town. House is stocked with pool toys too! Not recommended for a family with young children for they could fall through balcony railing.

Excellent location and views of the bay!
Unfortunately the heat in Zhihauntanejo (which is pretty much year round) made it almost unbearable to not have AC in this unit. It felt like we were living in a sauna. Imagine having coffee in the morning, trying to get ready for an evening dinner, sleeping...all while sweating and feeling that sluggish nausea from heat. We spent an afternoon just looking at local nearby hotels to get a decent nights sleep with some cool air blowing. The heat also just made everything feel dirty & grungy in this unit. The kitchen is quite inefficient so budget to eat out every meal. You can do a basic breakfast here but make sure it’s early. The only reason this review isn’t 1 Star is because of the lovely staff at the building, the fact that there was a pool for the building to cool off in, and the overall location - Playa Madera is proximity to everything - downtown, restaurants, the Malecon & marina, taxi stand, airport, other beaches, etc. The people are so friendly and we will hopefully go back to this area one day.
