Filthy, smells like cigarettes, owner is uncommunicative
I would not recommend a stay at this unit. It is advertised as a smoke-free unit, but when I arrived, the unit had a strong odor of cigarettes. After sitting in the kitchen for about an hour, my asthma began to flare up, and I had to leave the unit as it posed a health risk. The condition of the bathroom was poor; there was black mold in the grout of the shower, hair in the bathtub, and it was obvious the sink and faucet has not been cleaned prior to my arrival. I contacted Vrbo, who told me they could not cancel my reservation, and to contact the owner of the unit. When I tried to clarify further my options, the Vrbo representative hung up on me. I messaged the owner, who told me that the odor must have been coming from outside, and that the tub was simply scratched. He also told me if I cancel the reservation, he would refund me if they were able to rebook the unit, but I don't have the option to cancel the reservation, only the owner does. I explained this to him, he didn't respond to my message, and never cancelled my reservation so there was no possibility of someone else booking for my dates and me getting a refund. I called Vrbo again the next day to complain, and they told me there was no record of my first call, and that since I left the unit the day prior, there was nothing they could do aside from refunding my service fee (about 10% of the total booking amount). I had to resort to opening a dispute with my credit card company to try and get my money back.
