A stunning self-contained studio in the village of Riccall, with its own private entrance, modern kitchen and bathroom. Just 8 miles from the beautiful, historic city of York, Riccall contains everything you might want for your break away, with a wonderful restaurant, two pubs, a Post Office, tearoom and shop but it is also a perfect base for easy access to York; buses leave from the end of the road every 15 minutes or so. Stop at the Designer Outlet en-route, where the shopping experience draws people from all over the country.
A combination of sleek modern with quirky vintage, 'The Snug' offers the perfect getaway. Your own private studio, 'The Snug' has its own perfectly formed and well equipped kitchen with oven/hob, washer, welcome basket with breakfast items, including bread, butter, cereal, tea/coffee/hot chocolate, along with milk/ orange juice in the fridge.
Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are provided in the modern bathroom, complete with powerful 'rain' shower. Freshly laundered towels, cosy bedding, blankets and robes will be ready for your arrival. Free Wifi is available throughout your stay. Choose from a variety of DVDs or Freeview is available through Amazon Fire. The kingsize sofa bed with mattress topper has been declared super-comfy by visitors to 'The Snug'.
'The Snug' is a chic extension to the old Station Master's House (dating back to the 1860s) where we live; the old East Coast Mainline that was behind the house is now the road to York. The cycle track (to York or Selby) is also close by and wonderful for a lovely walk too.The village is easily accessed via the major road networks so getting here will be no problem. You can eat in (or we can recommend takeaways if desired), enjoy a meal in the village (our favourite is the italian restaurant in a converted Mill) or take a bus into York (they run regularly and the last bus leaves York after 11 so plenty of time for wining and dining!)
York has an incredible wealth of things to see and do all year round, with the ancient walled centre offering more attractions per square mile than any other UK destination.
You will have your own private entrance to 'The Snug' and small outside area (see picture attached). I am usually here to welcome you, pass on your keys and answer any questions. We have a keysafe so please contact if you might need to use this.
No smoking please
Check-in time is 2PM - late

Other things to note:
Distant road noise could be heard.

'Me and my partner stayed at the snug for the weekend just before christmas, the snug it self is wonderful. It is beautifully decorated, it is cosy but not cramped. Perfect for a romantic weekend away. The location is away from the noise and hustle of the city centre , but close enough to drive or take the bus to york city centre. The extra touches provided are lovely, from flap jacks and hot chocolate to a Christmas card and cracker in the breakfast hamper. Great host , very attentive and helpful with any questions and queries. It was an unforgettable stay and me and my partner will definitely be back in the summer.'
'We were astounded by how nice The Snug was. Host was second to none, and made us feel very very welcome. Nice little touches like the Xmas card made our stay absolutely awesome. Would highly recommend. We will be back! Thank you once again!'
'One of the best BNB we ever been, everything clean and tidy, precise with all information; the place was perfect, modern and glamour! She gave us an extra; she has a fridge with all the stuff for breakfast! Cosy and comfortable, a proper SNUG to us! We really really recommend it!'
'We had a lovely time at The Snug for a weekend visit to York. Stylish and homely with lots of thoughtful things from host including a breakfast hamper. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to stay! Also perfect recommendation for food at Burro which was just over a five minute walk away. Thanks again!'
“The Snug” was the perfect place for my weeks training course in York! Comfortable, Great location, Clean, Spacious, A great hamper and a selection of bits in the fridge! Perfect little home away from home! If im training in York again I would certainly return!'
'We had a fantastic stay at the snug. It had lots of personal touches and was very comfortable. Perfect for a mini break to York which is only 30 minutes away by bus. We cannot recommend the Snug enough. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. :)'
'Cosy, lots of attention to detail, clean and comfortable. Don't need to go into York in the evening, as there are pubs, restaurants, and shops in the village. Great host, not intrusive, but on hand for any queries. What more could you want!'
'Lovely stay here! Lots of nice touches and very homely. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay near York, very near to the centre and easy to access with a car.'
'Fabulous accommodation- beautifully decorated, very clean. Lots of lovely additional touches including a welcome hamper with delicious homemade flapjack! Followed host's recommendations for a meal at Burro a wonderful italian restaurant in a 13th century windmill just a short walk away where we were warmly greeted and had a wonderful meal. Such a friendly and pretty village.'
'Wonderful host and 'the snug' was perfect for us. It is a self-contained studio flat with it's own modern bathroom and kitchen. The sofa bed was remarkably comfy and the flat was very clean. It's exceptionally well-equipped with lots of thoughtful touches. The breakfast hamper was great with fresh milk and orange juice in the fridge. Homemade marmalade was delicious!'
'I had a lovely stay in the Snug, Made me feel really welcome and I love all the vintage touches. I had everything I needed, the space was private but host was just next door if I needed anything. I was comfortable here, and the location for me was great for what I needed. A short drive to the Designer Outlet and A64, there is a bus into York that takes about half an hour, although I ended up driving it was nice to have the bus as an option. I hope to stay again. Oh and the bread was delicious!'
