Really lovely place and lovely location near to York. Peaceful setting, cosy rooms and lovely breakfast. Claire was also very friendly and helpful during our stay so we would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
We were one of 2 couples staying here. The staff were fabulous.

The entrance from the en-suite back to the bathroom is so low that on return from the bathroom during the night I banged my head and knocked myself out. When I came too I had to leave and seek medical attention. I also got bitten by something whilst asleep or unconscious. It does refer to "1 bar" under food and drink and as this place was a pub you presume that's what your going to get, A good pint and a hearty breakfast but there is no "bar" and no food. Continental breakfast promised never happened. The room was cold. There heating was off. The bed sheets were cold and damp and the stairs carpet was dirty. The kitchen area was also dirty. The worse place i have ever stayed at and at a price of a 4 star hotel in london.
The b and b was very clean and the owner is very nice the beds are really comfy there is not much in the village to do no pubs etc as the b and b used to be a pub but that side is now closed so expect to travel for pubs/ restaurants etc there is a honesty bar at the b and b and the continental breakfast was very nice.
This is a great B&B run by Claire who is an amazing host. The room was warm and comfy with shower ensuite. A range of other rooms are available. Breakfast is a very generous continental style with Boiled Eggs and a huge choice of bread, croissants, pain au chocolat, fruit, cereals inc muesli and granola and the old favourites in individual boxes. Teas and coffee are available all day long and again the choice is amazing. Will will definitely be coming back.
We booked for two nights, we received a very friendly and warm welcome on our arrival.
Storm Arwen arrived on our first night, our room was warm and cosy - the first snow made the scene in the morning beautiful.
The place was lovely and clean, the room was quite big with two double beds and a day bed and a good sized bathroom. The owner was only a phone call away or the neighbour would come to help with any issues. The was plenty of choice for the continental breakfast. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again
Beautiful family room in comfortable pub style B&B.

Worst B&B ever come across. Booked this for a friend to give her a break from 24/7 care for her parents. Now I feel awful that she had to have this. Before arrival was told that couldn't arrive until after 16.30 because owner was going out to lunch. Said thats ok as guests coming a long way. Updated with an eta of 18.15 to be told that owner was going to be out all evening at a council meeting and neighbour would let us in. She did but thats all. One of the two bedside lights was not working. The heating was on full blast (was 20C that day) radiator would not turn off. No soap or shampoo or shower gel in bathroom. Kitchen was damp smelling, almost all cupboards were missing their doors and the one that wasn't was full of cobwebs. Although lots of teas was only 2 teaspoons so good thing we were only ones there. Had to have breakfast early as owner was going off to York races. Only continental breakfast despite booking saying "FULL". Only instant coffee on offer. Next morning I hadn't realised that money hadn't come off my credit card so asked if she would allow my guests to leave and I would call into pay. Asked her if she was there that morning as I only lived up the road. She said yes but then went out and told her son my guests were not allowed to leave. My husband had to divert from an emergency vet appointment to release them. Refused to discount about breakfast saying continental is FULL. AVOID this place as guests are an inconvenience to owners social life
The room was clean and comfortable, and the inn is located near several pretty country villages. The innkeeper is lovely. She prepared a full breakfast each morning and offered good insights on things to do and see in the area.

The pub and restaurant had closed but we had not been informed. Impossible to get a meal anywhere else locally as either booked up or shut. Breakfast was only cereal, boiled egg or toast, it was all self serve including making coffee. We only stayed one night instead of 3 because we were the only ones in the self-serve bar and getting a meal was impossible.
Location, Cleaniness and Comfort. We found everything to our liking so thanks to host Clare. A lovely old inn but well modernised and comfortable. Plenty of food on offer with our 'continental' breakfast. Would not hesitate to stay again.

It was absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean. Claire was fantastic and very helpfull with directions etc. Provided an excellent continental breakfast would highly recommend staying here.
