The Neighborhood:
Headland Warren Farm is situated off a small open moorland road, in the heart of Dartmoor, between the Moretonhampstead to Two Bridges road and the Widecombe-in-the-Moor to Chagford and Moretonhampstead roads, to the south of the head of the West Webburn and close to the West Webburn/East Bovey divide. A few miles to the south is Widecombe-in-the-moor and about equidistant to the north and east are Chagford and Moretonhampstead. Widecombe is the touristic centre of Dartmoor and has to offer very good pubs, tourist shops and of course the Widecombe cathedral (with a service every Sunday). A drive of 40 minutes will take you to the university and cathedral city of Exeter where there is access onto the M5, stations with mainline connections to London and an international airport.
The nearest beaches are roughly 45mins to an hour and 15 min drive away, all between Plymouth and Dartmouth along the South Devon coast.
Getting Around:
We strongly recommend that you come by car. Local buses run to Ashburton, Moretonhamstead and Postbridge however this is not within walking distance from the farm.
Other Things to Note:
ENERGY
The Dartmoor farm has no mains facilities at all and is totally self sufficient. Electricity comes from a generator; gas, which is used for cooking, comes from a bottle; water gets pumped out from the local stream.
Something to keep in mind is that guests will have to be careful not to exceed the electricity supply when switching on multiple machines. This is not usually an issue, just something to be mindful of.
Strictly no smoking in the cottage.
