"Had a very nice stay and was pleased overall. However room was dusty and needed a good clean. Various bits of the place beed a good tidy up. Not sure its 5* now. It definitely was when it opened 10 years ago"

"The tent was very spacious and clean. The beds were comfy and the entertainment was good. There were board games to play, books to read, wi-fi in the communal areas and sports to play. There was a BBQ meal in the evening which was very good and the children could roast marshmallows around the fire. Overall a great experience "

"Absolutely beautiful property. Right on the beach with easy access. Hanuman langur monkeys were right outside the room. They were so cute! Room had poor lighting, but everything else was perfect! Hotel next door has a superb buffet- best i have ever eaten in terms of variety! Access road was bad and there was no place for our driver to stay so he had to find his own lodging."

"From start to finish the staff made our trip perfect. Incredibly friendly, attentive, always looking to do something a little extra to make your stay unforgettable. Incredible food and accommodation (with hot running water and full comfort!) in a romantic setting surrounded by nature, private safaris in stunning Yala National Park led by guides who are passionate about the animals in the park - we saw countless birds, water buffalo, lizards, a wild boar family, even a sloth bear!"

"Perfect location. Walking distance to town, the temples and the lake. Restaurant offered a variety of food choices and the dishes we had were excellent. Amazing pool, outdoor space. Super helpful/friendly staff. Internet very good in room. "

"The manager and staff were super nice which is really what made our stay. They went over and beyond to make us comfortable. The facilities are average but some of it does need an update as the A/C units are really loud and the curtains aren't in great condition. Also the Wi-Fi didn't work in the rooms and so to use Wi-Fi you need to go to the common area which in the evenings gets a TON of mosquitoes so that wasn't idea. But the pool was nice and landscaping was well-maintained. "

"The Chaarya Resort and Spa is a gorgeous hotel set in a beautiful palm tree lined property. They have a very refreshing pool, a cool outdoor bar, pool table, games area, gym and spa facilities. "We had a wonderfully relaxing few days. The staff were friendly and helpful and the meals were most enjoyable. Our room was immaculately clean and the water was hot. It was lovely to be able to sit out on a balcony and read. The manager arranged a great safari to Bandula National Park and provided us with a very tasty breakfast to take with us. "This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The room itself was dirty—stained bed sheets, no duvet - just a thin sheet, plugs falling off the walls with exposed wiring, clumps of dust and towels that were old and fraying at the edges. There wasn’t even a bottle of water in the room. The worst part? They gave us a room that was already occupied by another guest. Imagine walking into what you think is your room, only to find someone else already there. It was deeply embarrassing...

"Our host was exemplary in showing us the local area. We had a deeply moving experience at both Kataragama and Tissamaharama. Pradath is an excellent resource for All things Sri Lanka. The accommodations are first rate. Big comfortable bed. Modern shower and tub. A/C and Wi-fi work great. Excellent meals prepared. It is the perfect spot to retreat in the evening. We heartily recommend it and will hopefully return. "
