Extraordinarily converted grain stores - The Silos

Extraordinarily converted grain silos on the edge of an old classic farm within walking distance of one of Suffolk’s prettiest and most renowned market towns. Imaginatively crafted by an award winning visual artist, the two interconnecting silos display aesthetic purity, passionate attention to detail and luxurious living in the round. With a log burner, vaulted ‘domes’, curated artworks, huge bed, remote location and set-like views, the silos are a remarkable one-off. Unique (frequently overused), perfectly articulates this exceptional cottage.
Living Silo
Sitting Area – Below an oculus capped dome designed with harmonic proportions there is a sofa and arm chair facing a free standing log burner backed by the corrugated iron silo skin which has been sculpted into an arresting heat shield. There is a Smart TV in the cupboard’s bottom shelf to get on-grid if needed.
Kitchen - Against one side is a bespoke gallery-style kitchen that repurposes the corrugated iron as an unexpectedly pleasing splash-back. The kitchen has a double electric oven and hob, recycled oak worktop undercounter fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and circular sink (of course).
Hallway – Features the front entrance door and connects the silos.
Sleeping Silo
Bedroom – Super-king sized bed with a carved door headboard, circus adorned chest of drawers, wooden ottoman and wall mounted clothes hooks and bedside lights.
Shower Room – Mosaic printed floor tiles, hand basin, lavatory and walk-in power shower.
Artworks - There are original contemporary artworks and ceramics by Sonia Delauney, Eduardo Paolozzi, William Kentridge, Sir Hugh Casson, Ian Tyson and others including framed pastel works by The Silos designer and builder, John Christie.

Outside
Utility Room – Next to the car port and houses a large sink and washing machine and makes for an idea boot room and bike storage.
The Grounds – The land immediately surrounding is for the private and exclusive use of The Silos and includes an outside table, chairs and BBQ.

A unique and beautiful place to relax
We had a really relaxed and great long weekend at the Silos. It's just as beautiful as the pictures and very clean, comfortable and well equipped. I'd highly recommend a stay.

Beautiful holiday home in a quiet country setting .
We stayed at the silos for three nights in May and appreciated quiet nights , wildlife, and comfort. The proximity to the coast and interesting Suffolk towns meant that we could happily fill our days and relax at home in the afternoons and evenings. The conversion of the silos is very stylish with beautiful artworks and nice touches throughout.

Stylish and Secluded Silos
The silos were perfect for our needs. Spacious and stylish accommodation, with lovely modern furniture, local art work on display and a cosy log burner. Everything was to a very high standard. The location was quiet and secluded, being away from the main house. This was our first visit to Suffolk and the location was perfect for exploring. We enjoyed lovely local walks to Framlingham and drives to Southwold and Aldeburgh were within 30 minutes. We highly recommend and would definitely visit again.

A lovely and unusual place to stay
Who would of thought of converting two grain silos into a dwelling? The design works wonderfully well, and we couldn't have wished for a more stylish home from home, and in such tranquil surroundings too. We can't think of a single thing that needs improving. We'll certainly be back for another visit.

A Tranquil Countryside Location
The Silos are situated in a fantastic countryside location a 5 minute drive to Framlingham or a pleasant 25 minute fairly level stroll. Framlingham has many places to eat and drink, notably Watson & Walpole Italian restaurant, Beviamo Cocktail Bar, The Crown, to name but a few. There are many independent shops to explore and all in all Framlingham is a lovely little town. Generally speaking the silos were good for our short break. Our biggest issue was that it was advertised as having a Super-King bed. It turned out to be just a King-size which, for us was disappointing. The bed was very firm - a little too firm for us but not uncomfortable. The bathroom is good and the shower works well. The sofa could be a bit comfier to cuddle up on but it was acceptable. The kitchen area had the basics which was fine for us as we ate out. The basic cleanliness was Ok but there were numerous cobwebs on the walls, especially around the lights, which would take minimal effort with a vacuum cleaner to remove. The wildlife was fantastic to see right from the window. Rabbits, hares, a muntjac deer, pheasants, partridges, moore hens, buzzards, kestrels, red kite. All in all we had a good stay.

Perfect getaway
The silos are lovely in a beautiful setting. Very well equipped and very spacious. A nice welcome and starter pack: tea, coffee, cereal, milk etc. Great shower and good wifi. Quality fixtures and fittings. A five minute drive to the lovely town of Framlingham and easy access to villages, towns and coast. We wanted quirky and this certainly met our expectations!

The most unusual holiday home
I loved the idea of the Silos when I first saw it and it lived up to expectations. Two silos have been converted into a charming holiday home. The rooms are round and well appointed. One living area and a bedroom. They are larger as a result than normal lodge type holiday homes. Set in a picturesque area with mature trees and wide sweeping fields opposite. The local wildlife are plentiful including bunnies and hares and many birds. The owners supply a welcome basket including tea, coffee, milk, cereals, jam and a bottle of wine which was very generous. It was said you could walk to nearby Framlingham in 25 minutes but I have mobility issues so we didn’t try it and felt it might take longer anyway. Framlingham is a great place with a church and Castle and independent shops and restaurants. We also visited places from Ipswich to Dunwich and Sutton Hoo. The area is steeped in history. We felt a microwave would be useful as we cooked all week apart from one night, as once back we did not feel we wanted to go out again.

Peacefull retreat
We’ve enjoyed our stay in this peacefull retreat. It felt embracing bij the round form. It felt very peacefull to us and we would certainly like to come back another time. The things that we missed were a wok and a seccond cooking pot, a potato peeler, coasters, a kitchen towel and a clout. Furthermore the bathroom sink was not running through propperly.
