Very controlling property manager
When I reserved my stay for 34 days (I explained this was not a vacation, I was doing an externship for school), I was told the” cottage” was booked for 3 of the 5 weeks, but an art studio was available to rent. I specifically asked to confirm there was a private bathroom, high speed WiFi, and air conditioning. Prior to my arrival I told that she was going to put me in the cottage for 12 days, then move me to the studio. What could I say. The cottage was nice, but the common area was not air conditioned. The weather was cool, so a/c was not necessary the first 4 days. On the fifth day, I left the a/c in my room on, as the temperature was to rise to 90 degrees, & left the door open so the place would be cool upon my return. My hrs were Mon.-Fri., 8:30 am – 6:30 pm (25 min. drive each way), upon return I worked to upload assignments to school until 10:00 pm. When I returned that day, Diane had gone into my room and turned the air conditioner down. I texted her the following morning, asking her to please not lower the air conditioner, that I did not appreciate coming home to a hot place. I also pulled the shades down, so the sun would not heat up the place. She had come in & opened them. Her reply was that it did not make sense to keep it on high if I was not there. I advised her that the a/c unit in my room was blowing my papers all over, so I needed to use the common area (and I was the only guest at that time). She replied that if I was not renting the whole house so I could not leave everything on. The following day, she became extremely belligerent. She used profanity and said I should I move to a room of a friend's place. I suggested that if there was a problem she should text or call me, but she insisted that she could do as she pleased. Then she wanted me to move my things to the studio (where she was staying) on Thurs. evening & physically move in on Friday evening because people were coming who had rented the entire house. The studio was in a barn – getting to it was an accident waiting to happen. It is filled with junk, pieces of wood, windows, dim lighting, complete with live bats. A/C & filter not cleaned for years. Cobwebs, mold, spiders, bugs, dust everywhere!

Charming B&B Farmhouse
We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay at the Zen Farmhouse. Diana was very welcoming, made us a delicious breakfast each morning and gave us lots of helpful information on things to see and do in the area. Her home was nicely decorated and our bed was super comfy. We slept great each night and would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone traveling in the area.

Amazing stay all round
I stayed a month at the Zen Farmhouse and it was a wonderful experience. Beautiful location, extremely comfortable room, and a very kind and generous landlady in Diane. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Catskills area, whether to get some work done or else just to relax in the the beautiful surroundings. I can't wait to return.

Tranquil Retreat
Diana is a most accommodating, welcoming hostess. From her delicious coffee to the most comfortable bed and calming environment, she has thought of everything. The Zen Farmhouse is a great place to stay for exploring the Catskills. Diana is very knowledgeable about the area and recommended some great hikes, restaurants and other things to do. I would highly recommend her place if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing, quiet reprieve. Thank you for everything Diana.

Peaceful
We enjoyed the atmosphere of the farmhouse and the grounds were beautiful. Diane did a great job letting us know about restaurants and other activities in the area. We especially enjoyed the Bethel Woods Center for Arts!

Peaceful and lovely
What a great getaway spot! We stayed the weekend so that we could enjoy a concert at Bethel Woods. Our biggest regret was not adding another night. Diane is a wonderful host with a wealth of knowledge on what to do and where to go in the area. Her home is in a beautiful, quiet location. Her relaxed style truly helped us feel welcome and we enjoyed several delighful conversations over coffee. The house itself is light, comfortable and clean. We definately plan to return so that we can just linger awhile longer and relax. It's that kind of place... Thank you Diane!

A slice of perfection for us
This home was wonderful and it met and exceeded our expectations. Not being familiar with the area we felt like we hit the jackpot in finding a place to call home for a few days (versus a hotel). It is clean and the setting is beautiful and peaceful. Diane could not be a more gracious hostess and she is very knowledgeable of the area. We would most definitely return to this home.

A Perfect Balance
I've tried several times to come up with a good way to start this review, but I can't find it. When I try to make it sound justifiably poetic and pastoral, it sounds hokey. So I am just going to spit it out, one thought at a time, cohesion be darned! 1) Diane keeps a very few well-behaved, beautiful chickens who may, if you ask them nicely, provide delicious eggs for your breakfast. 2) I don't know what she did to those pillows, but I have never before gone an entire night without having to smoosh and reshape a pillow so I can fall back asleep. 3) The low ceilings and big windows made everything feel special and open and in harmony with the beautiful surroundings. 4) It was both easy to find the Zen Farmhouse and easy to navigate from there to numerous other entertaining and interesting places like the Shadowland Stages or Bashakill Winery (take a picnic and buy a bottle, then walk around the grounds and the Basha Kill Wildlife Mgmt Area--it's a great way to spend the afternoon). 5) DIane is a generous host and kind person, and she has really good ideas on how to spend a rainy day as well as the sunny ones. Our weekend was so restful, we did not even get frustrated on the drive back to Brooklyn, even though Google Maps kept trying to reroute us through Hackensack. So thank you, Diane, and thank you, Jaya, and thanks to the fine feathered ladies of the yard and beyond. We're still smiling!
