While the interior of this property looks lovely, the neighborhood is unnervingly rundown and dangerous. As a former prosecutor, I spotted criminal activity all around, including drug deals, in broad daylight. Two men approached our car on this property’s street, visibly prepared to offer to sell us drugs. I was not willing to park my new car, lest it be stolen or stripped, much less get out of the car to enter the building. We drove away and got a hotel room. Since I did not even enter the unit, I asked for a refund, or at least cleaning and insurance fee back. The owner refused. VRBO’s policy is that these relationships are between the renter and the owner, so they would not get involved. Be careful. I have tried posting some pictures of the street but I cannot figure out how to do it. You would see potholed sidewalks, boarded up windows, extremely rundown buildings, cement blocks in the street. (It would have been dangerous to try to take pictures of drug deals.) Of course poverty and neglect are not always accompanied by criminality but in this case, be extremely cautious.
