"We had previously written Memmingen off as a purely transit town - handy for the nearby airport and nothing else. This was based on the less-than-inspiring train station and it’s immediate vicinity. However, on this visit we were pleasantly surprised to discover a remarkable ’old town’ district a short walk away. "We loved the amazing view. Fortunately the neighbours did not smoke so that we could use the balcony and open the windows. Strange that people in principal are allowed to smoke on the balcony, there should be no ashtrays. We expected to pay the hotel fee in the hotel and put Euros on our cash card, but then the hotel already charged our credit card before we checked in, so that we had to pay the card fee and use an unfavorable exchange rate. Except, excellent service and a great place to stay."
