Our family of 8 adults and 3 children have been renting lake homes annually for the past 6 years. We are from WI and love choosing a different Wisconsin home every year. This house was great for space. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spread out giving us plenty of “elbow room”. We had a few issues with the property which were addressed (dirty hot tub, garbage and recycles left from the previous renter, etc).
However, there are a few things that all but ruined our trip: 1) you CAN NOT swim in this lake. According to the DNR, the lake is 90% muck, and has a max depth of 8’. We had to pay for 3 cars to park and swim at the state park, and then we had to pay for another day (fighting the crowds) to swim in Lake Geneva. This was not fully disclosed in the description or photos of the property. We pay to rent a house on the lake so we can swim and hang out on the dock. 2) the internet was remarkably slow. Yes, they do have a wonderful library of DVDs but my husband and my son-in-law needed to check in for work and were unable to do so. The kids typically like to stream a show before bed, and we were unable to do that. This should also be disclosed. With our work-from-home culture, people are more likely to take an extra day away and work remotely.
Overall, with some upkeep, paint, and cleaning, it’s a decent property, but we won’t be back.
