We stayed here for 7 nights with 2 adults and 4 teens. Overall, it was a really good place that met our needs for the ski trip. The location was great, a very short walk from the front door, to the access to a trail that led to the base lift. Also, easy and fun green trail back home from the mountain (trail name was Home Again!). We had a ton of snow and enjoyed skiing Whitefish so it’s hard to complain about much.
There were a few hiccups with the house. It was clean for the most part. The carpet, especially downstairs, is pretty badly stained, which just isn’t a good look and feel. I do understand that it’s a vacation rental with a lighter color carpet and people probably do not adhere to the sign posted no shoes rule in the condo (although we did, as we do at home too). The fireplace was not cleaned and there were ashes all over in front of it. I called about that and the housecleaners came early next morning. There were crackers and toys under the master bed, which I feel should not be there if it’s been deep cleaned. The next thing, there was very limited hot water for showers. After a cold day skiing, a hot shower is a must! The issue was reported and there was a very nice repair man that came to fix it within minutes. It was much better, but still the last person to take a shower usually ended up with a cold one. The kitchen was equipped, but just very basic cookware in my opinion. No cutting knives, very little baking dishes, etc. and there were plentiful of some things and nothing of other things. That just made it kind of a pain to cook much in the house. Therefore, we only made dinner 1 night and ate out the rest, but able to make a basic breakfast daily. Other minor things were electrical outlets in the 2 bathrooms on second floor did not work. My husband said the cable TV remote did not work but we just streamed Netflix so we weren’t too bothered by that. The only bed I was in was the master and it was very comfortable. However, the climate control is hard to manage, it’s either too cold or too hot with the heater on lowest setting and makes an annoyingly loud clicking noise. The floors between the second and third story must be very thin. Even when the kids upstairs were just walking around, it was so loud and would wake us up. Sounded like a herd of heavy animals up there, just by walking to the bathroom at night. The biggest complaint was the hot tub was broken majority of our stay. It was brought up to Vacasa, which said it would be mentioned to the HOA that handles the hot tub. It was cold/broken the first 5 nights of our stay. Then someone came to fix it and discovered the motor and heater needed to be completely replaced. The gentlemen worked very hard on fixing it for a few days. Even boiled water to put in it. Our 6th night, it was working but was so boiling hot, impossible to get in. Like would burn your skin hot. The 7th night, our kids finally were able to get in it and so enjoyed it after a long day snowmobiling in heavy snow fall. We really, really missed having a hot tub during our stay and it definitely made the place less enjoyable than anticipated with a hot tub directly out our front door. Vacasa did refund us a fairly reasonable hot tub fee which was really nice, but having a working hot tub at the end of the ski day would have been priceless.
Overall, I was impressed with Vacasa customer support and responsiveness and would rent a vacation house from this company again. And I do feel if these issues would be addressed, this vacation rental would be awesome and I could see us staying there again!
